| Help- I need suggestions for first heli I have always wanted to try RC but just haven’t had the time. Now I am retired and would like to get started but not sure if what I want is possible. I want an electric that is easy to learn and fly and big enough to take simple pictures. I want it for outdoors mostly. Where can I find a sim for learning how to fly? Are there any cameras built for these that take pictures and not video? How about some suggestions? |

| Re: Help- I need suggestions for first heli Hi Jab, Welcome ![]() Well if you want an electric machine big enough to fly outside and fly a camera I think you'll be looking at a trex 600. The problem is that its going to be a costly machine to crash while you learn to control it.To take still pictures, you will need a minimum of a 7 channel radio and you'll need to rig up some kind of camera holder with a servo to operate the shutter. I am not aware of any over the counter cameras that are designed to be mounted on a heli, this is simply because helis differ quite substantially in their frames and skid layouts so its not easy to get something that fits all. As far as sims goes... Reflex XTR, Realflight G3 and Phoinex are probably the best. My suggestion would be to learn to fly the pants off the sim before you even touch the real thing. Good luck with it ... Azzy

| Re: Help- I need suggestions for first heli For any camera info that is the best info I have ever read go to rcdon.com this guy knows his stuff better than most. As for a heli try a raptor 30 nitro from heliproz. flying nitro is the way togo. More flying time and smoother. The bigger the more fun it is!!! |
