new 2 flying So I bought one of those small choppers in the mall and have been flying it in the house for a while and love it. I decided to get a bigger chopper and my wife bought me the esky honey bee cp2 for christmas. Got it set up, took it out side to try and hover. When it would start to lift off it would either want to tip nose forward or tail backward and try to flip. I think this is all trim and I would have started to try and trim it out had I not done the unthinkable and switched the transmitter off. This caused the heli to go crazy and flop around breaking some of the plastic knobs in the main rotor head. So I am going to order some of those along with some replacement blades as it cracked/broke those as well. Sure do wish that translated manual had a message saying DO NOT TURN TRANSMITTER OFF. Couple of questions I am assuming the proper power down technique is to land and cut power, then unplug battery, then turn off transmitter? I thought the kit came with the simulator cable but it appears it only came with the ping pong ball training kit. If I get just the cable, what is the best simulator to go with? I would like something that would allow me to train with the honey bee. Can this honey bee handle small amounts of wind? I have a large living room but to be honest I feel this chopper is too big and possibly too dangerous to fly indoors. Any tips/tricks to changing out that rotor head? I am afraid to look at a manual that the manufacturer provides because I feel I may end up rewiring my home by mistake. Appears there are several screws/snap on parts that may have to be taken off to get that thing replaced. Thanks in advance. Greg

Re: new 2 flying Hello and Welcome, I am assuming the proper power down technique is to land and cut power, then unplug battery, then turn off transmitter? YES I thought the kit came with the simulator cable but it appears it only came with the ping pong ball training kit. If I get just the cable, what is the best simulator to go with? I would like something that would allow me to train with the honey bee. Sorry I can't help you with the sim., or the head repair, I have a walkera 53#1 and a 22e. I have only been flying these for a few months and learned without a sim. but I take very small baby steps and if I fly out doors there has to be NO wind and I don't do anything fancy. Good luck and enjoy Ken

Re: new 2 flying I would think the Honey Bee would ok outside...as long as its a breeze and no more. Simulators? get the best you can afford...I would go with Reflex XTR or Realflight. Either way you will need a proper transmitter...Realflight G3 has options for a dummy transmitter...so you can simply plug the thing in and go 'fly' I am sure Reflex comes with this option as well...I would say Phoenix has the better graphics for sure. ALWAYS switch the radio on first and off last. You were lucky in that the heli could easily have jumped up and hit you in the face...this has happened to people before now. Rob

| Re: new 2 flying Hi there.. Welcome .... Yes good simulators arent cheap, however they do pay for themselves lol.In order of cost I think its like this.. Realflight G3... (because it comes with its own TX) Reflex............ (technically the most expensive cos you need to buy a TX for it) Phoenix ......... (not much experience) FMS ............. (free but its a bit tricky to get working with a TX. buy a usb tx for it) Take care.... Azzy ![]()

Re: new 2 flying Well..FMS is good for what it is...certainly helped me out when I was learning. The more expensive sims are much more 'adjustable' in that you can change how each model behaves....plus you get to use proper switches etc. You can do things like practice Autorotations for one thing...and get to act out various emergency scenarios...so at least you get an idea of what to do if/when something does go wrong. A good sim is quite expensive...but will save you money in the long term.

Re: new 2 flying I tried flying the sim at Hobby-Lobby and I have FMS, for some reason though the sims don't "feel" like the helicopter when I flew it. I find the sims much harder to control

Re: new 2 flying well i have ordered the parts and the cabled needed for the sim. will fix the chopper and try FMS now. Just can't swallow the 200 for a simulator. Now if i crash and burn again right off the bat and need more parts, I may be getting a simulator ![]()
