| n00b + Kyosho Concept 60 SR So i am a helicopter newbie, zero experience. I bought a concept 60 SR used, never ran, never flown. It has an OS .60 engine. 5 futaba fp-148 servos. Are these servers good enough for the helicopter? Is a gyro required? Any good tips for a newbie as far as things i should check out on this helicopter to make sure its sturdy. I do have plenty of mechnical experience, so I don't think it will be too difficult to figure out |

| Handbrake on (SKREEEEEEEEEEECH) stop!!!!!!!!! OK you say that you have no experience? You want to fly a 60 size heli, you've never flown and you dont even know if its airworthy!!!!!! (Deep Breathing now) Calm now ok there are a few things that I will point out to you. First, You need to get on a simulator and learn how to handle the input control skills you need to fly a heli. Do yourself a favour admire your heli and get to know it whilst you make your mistakes on the simulator. the heli will last you longer this way. Read my home page, It will tell you why I am saying these things. Now the servos, They realy are not any good for a sixty size heli. You can use one for the accelorator if you need to. But you realy need one high speed servo for the tail and at the very least the others should be ball bearing type servo's at minimum. I started out with a cheap gyro and only recently changed to a heading hold type. If I had the gyro I have now then it would have made learning easier. But you realy need a gyro. it is possible to fly a heli without one but it is very very difficult to keep tail control which you realy need as a learner. Now the heli the main things you need to check are that the main mast is straight the feathering shaft is straight the tail rotor shaft is also straight. the blades are not cracked or chipped and that they are ballanced correctly. As it is a second hand heli you need to check everything on it realy. It is your saftey and those around you that you should be concerned for. learn as much as you can about the heli you have. I will be glad to answer any questions that you have in the future but you have enough to think on now. I can give you tips on how to check the main mast and feathering pindle if you need them. let me know. Regards Daz P.S Welcome to helis, you'll love it.

| Ray's Authoritative Helicopter Manual will also help you with the setup of your new Heli. The servo's are not the best but seeing you are new. Thay will be fine for just starting out but you will want to upgrade soon after you start FF. And yes you will what a gyro. A non HH is fine but you are better off getting the Heading hold gyro like the futaba 401 with servo. You can usally get a good used combo for about $150 And get a flight SIM this will help you learn and save you from crashing that new bird in the first 30sec. of flight. You will also want some kind of training gear like the Roto pod wich is a few $$ or you can get 2 dowl rods and some wifl balls and zip tie them in an "X" to the landing skids This is to keep the heli from tipping over from a hard landing. |
