Gremlins?

Hey guys!

Just got my E-Flite Blade CP Helo and I wanted to get used to the controls. Since I wasn't going to actually lift off (and since it's 90 degrees here in Florida), I figured it would be OK to power it up in my apartment.

So I'm playing around at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, nudging the rudder and aileron controls in order to get a feel for them, when all of a sudden with no input from me, the helo shoots up to the ceiling. She bounces off the ceiling back to the floor. I cut the throttle, but the blades keep spinning. I can hear the motors spinning up and down even though the throttle and throttle trim are off. Finally she comes to rest in a position where I can safely grab it and yank the battery cable.

After checking for damage (there was none), I took the helo outside and powered it up again. Everything seemed to work perfectly.

Any ideas what could have caused this? My only thought was that my wifi computer network created some sort of interference. Is this possible?

Hey JukeBoxGuy
Welcome to the forum. Yes radio interference can be a real big problem and there are a countless number of things that can cause it. The best way to check is to get yourself a frequency checker to monitor the channel your TX is on every place you plan to fly or upgrade your radio and RX . Also check the antenna routing to make sure that your not getting interference from the electronics on the heli itself. Another thing you could do is unplug the motor and then power up and just let it sit there watching the servos for any glitching. This is how I found out the guy next door was causing some bad interference on my old stock Walkera TX with his garage door opener. All he had to do was open or close his door and every servo on the heli would go nuts.

Thanks, Danimal.

A frequency checker sounds like a great idea. Who knows what kind of RF stuff the neighbors may have?
