Question.

I was wondering... On the flight sim. when you go inverted you can lower throttle so that your going upward but upside down... is this possible because the manual says to lower trim and throttle to lowest and it does nothing... shouldn't it be slamming into the ground??? this might be a stupid question but I don't understand, or maybe its just the Honeybee???

Re: Question.

Hello Tony,

The manual is correct, and the flightsim is also correct. What you are missing here is that on most heli radios there are what as known as throttle and pitch curves. These are basically set ammounts of pitch and throttle for a certain throttle stick ammount. There is a switch on the radio called an idle up switch that changes how these curves work. In basic terms, it allows the pitch of the blades to become negative which in turn diverts the thrust from down to up. This is to allow inverted flight as you describe in your sim but also to allow you to land and take off. So without flipping the idle up switch on a radio, if you turn the heli upside down in flight, your right, it will slam into the ground but if you flip the switch, the blades can produce "upthrust" which when the heli is upside down keeps it in the air. (Does this make sense?)

It depends on your honeybee whether you have a inverted capability or not if your machine is a fixed pitch model (wide curved blades) then you definately dont however if its got collective pitch (thin straight blades), then its possible.

Hope this helps... Azzy

Re: Question.

Ahhh man..... now i get that... i have a 2 knobs on my 22e radio 1 thats PIT and one thats PLT! which if i understand what your saying-> if i turn it to + i will have an upward thrust and to - i'll have a negative? i think thats what your saying.. In one of my previous posts I was wondering why my heli wouldn't take off. I think it is because i hadn't set the pitch it was on Neutral. what do you think?

Re: Question.

Hi Tony,

Might be lol I dont have a wlakera radio so Im not sure. The theory sounds right though If I was you Id spin the heli up to a point well before it flies, then turn the knob and see what happens. If the heli is running with -ve pitch you will know because it'll compress the landing gear and if you put your hand above the blades, you'll feel the updraft (dont get too close mind, Im not taking responibility for your heli hacking you up cos you put yourself in the way of the spinning blades lol). I have no idea what the PLT does maybe it changes the throttle position.

Take care... Azzy

Re: Question.

With the 22E theres a switch on the right side of the radio that is marked flight mode. Up is N or normal and down is 1 which reverses your throttle/pitch for inverted flight.
