| Hello guys, I was checking and reading some of the post's and i found this forum to be great, alot of help and feedback. Well i am new to this forum and to this hobby, which i am seaking feedback. In the simulator i am able to lift off, control the airplane, kinda, side to side, move it forward and back, but have hard time to land it thus i am still capable of landing it. It's hard to land it after flying it because trying to control it to hovering position it's hard. The question are: 1- Am I ready to get into the my real heli? 2- Do you guys think i could correct this problem if i get into my real heli, instead of simulation? 3- If i got the hang of the controller, meaning what i mention i could do in the simulator, would i be able to apply the same things to the real? If so i could with no problem take off and fly correct?, or there is more to it? Open for any suggestion or feedback...Thanks in advance, feedback and suggestion are greatly appreciated. |

| Re: Am I Ready??? sounds like you need more time on the sim. what helly do you have, is it an ic nitro or a little battery jobby. If you got an ic you will need training gear on it to start with. and if possible someone who flys well to set it up for you. If you dont have someone with you or a model shop to help you its going to be a hard, expensive road to even hovering a helly. tell us your situation and what help you do have and we can go from there. good luck and dont push it too hard to start with.

| Re: Am I Ready??? 1. Which Heli will be your "real" heli. 2. Which Heli is your 'virtual' heli. 3. How much do you want to spend repairing the real heli? IMHO the sim is easier to fly than the real. They are very close. The #1 difference is that the Helis on the sim are perfectly set up. YOur real one won't be. And there's no nerves involved in flying the sim. The difference in just the second one causes me more problems than the first. If i get into a control issue, I panic and cause bigger problems. That being said, there's nothing like flying your real one for gaining experience. I had a long conversation with one of the really good 3D flyers yesterday about the sim vs real. He, even now, will work and work on the sim to perfect a move, then go to his real helis. to do the move. (Note he's got Raptor 50, trex 450, and trex 600 (electric).) Thats the way I'll approach the sim vs real question. SMall steps, perfect it in the sim. then move on to the real. Your first step. Lift off 1 foot, put it back on the ground, repeat. No hover here, just up and then down. perfect it on the sim, then do it on the real. Don't get into a situation where you are flying and then trying to come back to stable tail in flight. Just get hovering in position perfected. Draw a 6' circle, get to where you can hover in the circle. If you get out of the circle, and just land, get the heli back into position and then take off again. Until you can hover with out a thought, you won't be able to get it back into control.

| Re: Am I Ready??? You cando this on your own....I had to...but theres nothing like getting some help in person....I never did though...not many experienced heli flyers here on these Islands!! You need to be able to hover.....anyone can fly about to some degree but hovering is an important part of this hobby....practice on that sim till you get real good.... Note; you will have to hover slightly tilted to one side...the reason is that the tail rotor will try to blow the heli sideways...beacuse the gyro will keep the heli straight...the heli will move sideways a little...so get used to the heli having to tilt slightly into the opposite direction....real helis suffer the same thing. In real life I found hovering quite easy....but I still would practice...usually by using a fuel can...almost empty...I would place this on the field....and then go fly...and approach the fuel can then use this as a reference to hover next to....sometimes I would place a skid onto the canister and hold it there....you have to be careful doing this though....better to use a marker on the ground and use this instead. | Re: Am I Ready??? i have found that using a car mat is great for keeping the skids clean and practising spot landing, later on you will be able to do it when getting autos landing better. i use a car mat to try and land on when doing autos. because i have a 90 putting the mat long wats infront of me the skids just fit on the mat, so when landing getting it back on with out being on the grass is hard and i dont get it right most times but the few times i have its a great feeling. when landing with power you should be able to do it every time. on wet grass my raptor will leave impressions in the grass after lift off i try and put the skids back in the same marks when i land. its all good practise ![]()

| Re: Am I Ready??? Thanks for the reply to all. Damn i guess i will learn more and master it in the sim and then when i feel confortable i will jump on my real heli. 3dee, hey i got is a T-Rex 450SE w/upgraded parts, and a T-Rex 600CF also w/upgraded parts. It's that they look soo nice i want to try them around the park. I can't wait, but i also don't want to spend any more money as i already did and besides i don't want a divorce. LOL Thanks again for all the info, of spot landing and to master it on sim first. I think i am not ready, i would had probably panic. |

| Re: Am I Ready??? Hi, I'm just beggining to like the art of flying a helicopter and just realy love it. I just bought my HIROBO XRB coz the salesman told me that this is best for a begginer like me. I practice everyday and had a lot of crashes but still I didn't give up coz I realy want to learn fying. Now my Hirobo is more than 1 month old and I'm planning to buy a bigger helicopter for outdoor. My problem is that I don't really know if my skills are ready for the bigger Helicopter or should I practice more. And it's really bad here in Qatar (Mid-East) because we have only one shop here which is the Hobby Centre and we can hardly buy this wonderful Raptors online because usually the online shops doesn't deliver in this country. Please advice me on what model or type of helicopter should I buy and how can I get it. Thank you very much. Regards, Fernie |

| Re: Am I Ready??? Hi, I have found some information for you that might get you a raptor, but if not you should get a Hirobo Sceadu this is good enough to learn with. But the Hobby centre do sell Thunder Tiger trainers planes so they should be able to sell you a thunder tiger raptor kit. This shop is in Dubai so they should post it to you. hope this helps.
