Smile starting again - cant wait

ok i havent been getting any where really with my 36
i did get a few good hovers in but yes you guessed it - i got carried away and thought i go that bit further with some manuvers but i wasnt ready. after many repairs i had a spot of bad lucj or better worded MISS-USE.
i fly it until the battery went flat (ni-mh) and i felt i was gettin some where so i put the battery straight on charge. big mistake
i went for my dinner while it was charging and i have a charger that beeps if anything goes wrong. so it beeps and i can hear this banging at the same time. i didnt know what it was untill i got down to my celler.
OH ****
the battery was exploding and the canopy was dripping of the air frame.
i had never seen or experienced anything like that
i just grabbed it at armslength and throw it out side. i come back to it half an hour later and to my amazement only the battery and the canopy were damaged so i was lucky i gues. in the mean time i have been patrolling the garden with my 1/16 tiger 1 tank ! iam such a big kid (21) honest iam that old its great - full function including the feature of firing bb's. but iam back on with fixing my heli.i have a t-rex canopy and some new wooden blades. just awaiting a new battery. i felt i wasnt really getting anywhere with the sim. it sounds stupid but it was too easy,i wasnt really gettin anywhere. if it broke you just hit f12 and start again. it wasnt like flying a proper model i didnt think. although i did enjoy piloting the twin rotor model, i cant remember the name. it was a bit too easy but i think models are all about having fun that 1 was , just like my tank and hopefully soon my 36
gosh i can talk on a bit but i will update you as things come together

BB gun tanks are great fun, l have a 1/24th one and my nephew tries to shoot my helicopter with it! There's no substitute to flying, l could've bought another model for the cost of a simulator! I spent the money on extra batteries and spare blades instead.

hi Tim
yes i would have to agree the tanks are great fun but theres so much more to a helicopter. helis = 3d tanks = land but i could never choose between them. cant wait to get my battery and get back into the flow of things again especially now the weather getting better. and its going to be interesting to see how these blades are going to fair up against the stock ones i used to fly with

Hello dubz,

All I can say is what I say to everyone, If you are going to get a simulator to practice on then it is worth getting one that is specifically designed for teaching and training/practicing on. they usually cost over £100 but they are very good and when you have set it they are as real as if you where out there on the sticks. The only difference is that it does not cost you the repair bill.
I am happy to hear that you managed to get the battery out in time and that nothing else was damaged. But the advice in this forum about not leaving your batteries (LIPO) alone whilst on charge is there for a reason. These batteries are very explosive in there demise. They are capable of throwing flames up to 4 foot and like they are coming from a blow torch.
As said, I am happy you got away with so little damage. Hope your up and flying again soon.

What flight sim are you using?
