main gear moving up&down

can anyone tell me if it's ok for there to be up & down movement on the shaft the main gear is connected to, I have about 1/8 - 1/4 of an inch movement on the shaft & it keeps me from getting swashplate level and when I give the helo up & down elevator inputs the shaft moves up & down, ehat's not supposed to happen is it? Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: main gear moving up&down

If the main drive shaft, that spins the blades, is moving up/down I think you should look into that.

There should be a collar on the main shaft under the swashplate with a setscrew in it. Loosten that screw then pick the heli up by the hub to pull the shaft up as far as it goes, or reach under the drive gear and push up, then push that collar down against the top of the heli while holding up on the hub or pushing up from below and tighten the screw.
