Question Help with RealFlight G3.5

I have just purchased RealFlight G3.5 (Mode 2) and have a question for a G3.x user.

FYI: I fly a small Twister Bell Medevac and am able to handle this OK.

My question is as follows:

Are there settings in RF G3.x that need to be changed/set/adjusted to fly heli's in G3.5? The reason I ask is that I seem to be able to handle the Heli-Max Axe EZ (twin rotor-similar to what I fly) reasonably well, however when it comes to using the heli training function in G3.5 I can not keep the heli in the air field, let alone the circle drawn on the ground (don't laugh).

My guess is that I am just a very ordinary flyer rather than the game settings, but I feel better after asking.

Re: Help with RealFlight G3.5

Hi

I don't have the realflight sim myself but I can tell you that you are not alone in finding that you have not got as much ability to fly these single rotor heli's as the twin blade ones makes out.
Twin blade heli's are great for the person that wants to see if they would enjoy the hobby, but they are VERY stable. This is why when the Hoverfly was being sold I championed that heli. I have 2 myself and have succesfully taught people to fly via this meathod along with the use of the simulator.

Generaly the heli's on the sim are set quite close to what they actually do fly like. though some are set harder (XTR) and some easier Piccofly/Easyfly,
Simulators do require a lot of patients and those of us that are not affraid to admit it will openly say that, WE too went through the ARRRRRRRGH faze of learning. LOL
Just stick with it fella it will come.

There are paramiters that you can change to help slow things down or help with the flight of the heli's on the sim. Have a good look at the settings for the models, I would imagine you will find them somewhere.

Re: Help with RealFlight G3.5

Hi Garry,
I'm new too and I'm flying the realflight G3.5 sim. My micro-heli is a Blade CX with the twin co-axial rotors. It's really stable compared to the sim.
The "trainier" in the sim is the impala; .30 size I believe. I didn't like using that circle thing at first because I kept crashing into the "wall" and exploding the helicopter and then I'd have to start all over again. Instead, I just practiced hovering tail-on over one of the stripes on the runway. Once I got that, I tried moving side to side over the stripe. Then I moved on to a nose-in hover. I've found that if you keep the heli slightly off axis, i.e. not directly nose-on or directly tail-on, you get a better sensation of heli movement and can react more quickly.
One more thing. In the G3.5 sim, they offer other helis. If the Impala is too sensitive, you may want to try the huey or one of the bigger ones. They are more stable and you can at least get the hover down on those before moving back to the Impala.
Good Luck. It'll come soon.
Tim

Re: Help with RealFlight G3.5

About the only control that will help you is the switch in the top left of the controller (the one on the face of the controller), this is the dual rate switch and will change the sensitivity of the aircraft in pitch and roll.

The other tip is to calibrate the controller inputs, mine was a fair ways off out of the box.

Turn the circle off practice tail in, then add the circle back as you gain confidence, I got to the small circle pretty quickly, but I put a lot of hours in on the first couple of days.
