| Heli max Roto Fly Help Please!! I recently bought a Heli Max Roto Fly electric helicopter, I researched online and found this one to come pretty well recommended for a real beginner. After 4 weeks of practice i can controll the helicopter on the ground pretty well. I do notice though that it slides to the left, and as the throttle increases it does very quickly. I have played with the trim tabs but being a beginner im not sure if Im doing it the right way. When flying an RC helicopter, is being able to control it only mean being able to correct the mistakes that it naturally makes? The amount of natural movement that it has makes me feel like I am only controlling chaos, not actully flying it. I got it to take off and land under controll for the first time today and I am totally hooked on this hobby, but very frustrated. Do I need more patience? Please any tips or feed back is greatly appreciated thanks |

| Re: Heli max Roto Fly Help Please!! Hi there, Welcome to the forum and the addiction lol. You have no doubt realised that flying a model heli isnt a case of "up, down, left, right" control and there is a lot of physics going on in that little rotorhead. The slide to the left is probaly natural (depending on which way your blades turn) and you shouldnt try to trim it out on the ground because when it takes off it will probably launch itself in the other direction. When a single rotor hovers one skid will be slightly lower because of the thrust from the tail rotor needing to be balanced a slight side thrust on the main rotor. What you need to do is to compensate for the slide by putting in a small ammount of opposite aileron control and continuing to steadily increase the throttle. I know what you are saying about "controlling chaos" and I think everybody in here who can hold a hover will understand what you mean. It is hard at first and you are at the stage right now where you are reacting to it rather than it reacting to you. This is also normal lol. As you gain in experience, you will learn to anticipate what the heli is GOING to do and compensate for it BEFORE it does it. A good analogy is its like balancing a steel ball on a sheet of glass while riding a bicycle lol. Keep practicing you are nearly there, it might not feel like it but all of a sudden a "light" will go on in your heard and it will all make sense. Good luck.... Azzy

| Re: Heli max Roto Fly Help Please!! Hi Nice advice there Azzy, Just to back up what Azzy has said it is sounding like you are doing just fine. In the beginning we all react to the movements of the heli rather than fly it. You do chase it and stop it going in the direction its already moving at first this is all normal and part of the learning faze. you can make trim adjustments on the ground, But you may find that you need to make further adjustments when it is in the air. sounds to me like you are ready to start lifting the heli and having short hops. to do this dont apply the throttle too slowly allow the heli to come away from the floor cleanly. If it climbs too much dont panic and shut down the throttle, just slowly reduce throttle whilst making control inputs and it should land ok. Allso just to back Azzy up, you will find that you start to make inputs and correct without having to think about it. soon after this it will all make sense and get easier. Keep up the good effort well done.
