Smile Hey Everyone

Hey everyone Im brand new to this site and brand new to rc helicopters... I just bought a picco z recently, and got very interested in it, so I purchased a Walkera 5#4 offline and it should be here tomorrow actually Im so excited and i've been reading up on all the things to do to have a successful first flight... I can not wait to start really getting into this and actually having a REAL copter and not a little 2 channel picco (havoc heli) If anybody has and other tips or anything please share thanks.

Re: Hey Everyone

Hi there,

Welcome to the Forum

Take it easy and slowly is the biggest piece of advice I can give. If youve only ever flown the picco before then you will find the walkera quite a handful.

Also you need to check that heli over very carefully before you attempt to fly it. If theres a club in your area, I would look at joining that, it has the advantage of having experienced people to help and usually has a proper flying field (not a park where you get 200kids swarming round you asking for a go 3 seconds after you put the heli down) If you cant find a club try to get somebody who can fly to check it over for you. It only takes one thing to be wrong for the whole project to end in tears. The other thing that is worth doing is get a simulator (FMS, Reflex, Realflight, Phoinex) They will all save you money in the long run.

Also, take a look at radds site...

Its not for a walkera but the principles are universal.

Hope this helps and good luck with it.... Azzy

Re: Hey Everyone

If parts are cheap and plentiful then you will have fun with the Walkera....I busted my gasser Predator the other week.....and still waiting for parts...replacment blades are about £90 for a start.....well they are carbon because no one has any wooden ones.

I left the flying field feeling really annoyed....we take risks with flying bigger helis thats for sure.....and I love the predator to bits (no pun intended:
)

but I feel I have lost something....for what I spent on that project I could have bought a squadrons worth of smaller electric helis.....and provided the wind is kind they can be flown practically anywhere....with a load of spare parts to boot.....if I was in the UK I would seriously consider selling the predator and getting a TRex.
