Hey everyone I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. My name is Chuck and I am just getting started into rc heli's. I am a helicopter mechanic by trade so I am not sure why I didn't pick up the hobby sooner. I just bought a Raptor 30 kit and have it assembled I just need to rig it. I am living in San Diego so I am not sure if there is anyone in my neck of the woods. At any rate I am looking forward to learning the wealth of knowledge that I am sure is here. Chuck

Re: Hey everyone Hi there, I work with Sikorsky 61's ....an ancient heli but its a dream come true to work with the real thing ![]() Theres probably someone around your area who you could get in touch with....its ok to go it alone....I had to. It was a bit hard trying to fix vibration problems and to set my first heli up so it would fly ok....one big bonus was using an RC flight simulator....I had many hours of sim time under my belt so flying a real model was quite easy really. You will enjoy this hobby a lot....theres something for all...be it little electric helis right up to gas turbine powered scale machines. Keep in touch Rob

| Re: Hey everyone Hey Chuck, welcome to the forum. I'm not quite local - up north in the Bay Area where it's cold and windy today Feel free to ask any questions. Gassers aren't my thing, but plenty of friendly people on the forum and lots of good info.

Re: Hey everyone Hello BlackHawkMech1. Looks like there are quite a few rc heli pilots around your area. Maybe you can locate a hobby shop that sells this stuff and they would likely be able to hook you up with a fellow flier. I have a Raptor also (Titan .50) and I think these things are just fine to learn on. I suggest getting some training gear for it, and keep it pretty low, like around a foot off the ground, till you get the hang of it. I can't think of anything stranger to do than to try to fly something that you're not in. I used to fly the Bell 47 and so I thought the rc jobs would be a snap. Well... I wrecked a lot. I finally came to the realization that I had to learn from scratch. I might have excessive lumber in my head cuz it took me a while. But even a normal person is probably going to have to do a fair amount of grunting before this gets to be anything close to "natural" feeling. I'm no whizz but I can now get most of the parts back to the starting point. Anyway, the gang here is very helpful and I'd like to join in with a welcome to a dandy hobby.

Re: Hey everyone Hey Thanks everyone, I bought the real flight g3.5 and its great!! It has really put me in my place as far as how I thought they would handle. It is pretty tough to get the hang of. You know I bet it is easier flying the real deal than the RC. I find my issue is with roll control with varying yaw attitudes. I zig when I should zag LOL . Well I really appreciate the warm welcome I willl see you all on the boards. Chuck
