Re: Colco 4-Ch Aluminum Hummer-370

Hi there,

If youve never flown before I would recommend getting a blade CX or other co-axial heli (2 sets of blades stacked on top of one another) these are much easier to fly than single bladed helis because they self stabilise. Thats not to say that they are easy to fly because they are still helis and helis by nature are "squrily" to fly. That of course is the challenge, first to be able to hover, then to be able to fly forward, ect. Its an addictive hobby and I am sure once you get a heli, you'll be hooked.

If you want to save some money learning, then I would say invest in a simulator such as Reflex xtr, Realflight or even FMS because crashing a model in a sim costs nothing but crashing a real one nearly always breaks something and costs you money.

Just my thoughts... Azzy

Thanks for the info. I do have a Micro Mosquito RC Helicopter That I got from Radio Shack. It is cute and like playing with it but after that I wanted the look of the single rotor and the challenge.

Re: Colco 4-Ch Aluminum Hummer-370

Hi Again,

Fair enough, I would definately get a simulator and play on that for a while before attempting to fly the real thing. Im not familiar with the micro mosquito but Im betting that its a 2 channel model like the Pico Z. If thats the case then the jump from that to a full 5 - 6 channel single rotor heli is massive.

Good luck with it, let us know how you did..... Azzy

Yea I figure the jump will be a big one. That is why I like that these heli's come with the computer hook up. get to crash a few freebies on the computer first. the Micro that I have is 3 chanel here are a couple of pics of it. real small and really easy to fly but limited on how well it gets around.

Re: Colco 4-Ch Aluminum Hummer-370

Ok, It isnt exatly what I was thinking of, this is more like a bladerunner. I think you are gonna be in for a surprise at just how different its bigger brother is gonna be. Id say to you, if you get a single rotor 4 channel, get sim time and learn to hover BEFORE you even charge the battery. Also take a look at Radds school it will help you. http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.htm. The biggest difference between your current machine and a "full control" machine is that a full control machine will not self correct and you will need to fly it all the time eg, if you put in left aileron and roll the heli, you need to put in right aileron to correct it. If you dont, it will keep rolling.

Good luck.... Azzy
