| Hi (anther newbe) Hi to all My story is almost identical to childhood dream. Last spring I bought a piece of junk from radio shack . I played with it in house for a bit but that was geting dangerous because it was so uncontrolable. when the weather came I took it out side that lasted about 15 minutes before it was damaged and unflyable . Since the I have been pining away wondering what I should get to replace it. So I was surfing ebay I spotted the Picco z read a few forum and ordered one the other day.Waiting for that to come. Now that I have joined Helifever (great site ,great resoures) I am aready planning my next Heli. I would like a Trex 450se v2 with a Spectrum DX7 Trans and a good simulator.Until I can get that mybe a 4 Ch for about a $100.Is there such a Heli ? Anyway that enough for now.I will post a thought or two when I get the Picco Z Silverlit. Hi to all again Dec.12/06 PVS |

| Re: Hi (anther newbe) 100 dollars...you might get something but it wont be wonderful.....I really like the piccoz concept.....it that price you cant go wrong. The Trex is one nice heli....sensible move to get a good radio....you wont regret that....good sims? I have just got a copy of Reflex XTR and it is amazing....it really is very very good....if you got it you would need to get a radio from somewhere....Realflight g3 comes with a dummy radio which is a great idea...its pricey and will challange your graphics card...but if your pc is quite new then you might be ok. If you are on a budget then try FMS which comes with a dummy radio....oyu might need to search the internet ....but this package is cheap and fairly good. Reflex and Realflight are very good though.....I have ordered another sim called Phoenix which has had good reviews so far...either way...a sim is a sensible item to get....put in the effort and your learning curve wont be so steep. | Re: Hi (anther newbe) Hey, welcome to the forum. That's one big house you live in Anxiously awaiting a Picco myself thanks to Rob As he says $ 100 is tough (especially if we're talking Canadian). I haven't heard anything bad about the Venom Night Ranger 4ch. My lhs carries it for $ 150. I've looked at it up close and it seems to be a decent bird. I can't speak to the electronics, however, which is always something to watch out for on cheaper helis. It's available from Tower Hobbies online if you want to take a look at it. Once you get into the $ 190 range, there's a whole variety of helis to chose from. Mostly Fixed Pitch or Coaxial. One flavor I'd avoid from the posts I've seen here is Walkera on account of the electronics issue. Most everything else people seem to be happy with.

| Re: Hi (anther newbe) Uneverno Thanks for the advice. No I do not have a big house , is the Trex 450se to big to fly in the house ? It's hard to tell looking at them on ebay. |

| Re: Hi (anther newbe) Hawkman Thanks for the reply.Daz on this forum has recommended the Hoverfly and the Hummingbird as a good learning Heli. Are the radio's that come with a Heli or the Spectrum DX7 able to plug into a computer to run a flight sim? |

), and the radio can be plugged in to your computer. Century sells an interface cable for your serial port bundled with FMS for about $ 25 US.Most radios that come with the RTF kits are compatible. (You'll need an appropriate interface cable) I'm not sure with Walkera though, - I've seen both that they are and they aren't on this forum. If the radio has a "trainer" function it should work. The other issue is with Windows itself. Microsoft dropped some drivers on Win2k and XP, so you need to get those in order to connect via USB. You can check the Hummingbird out here: http://www.centuryheli.com/products/...ml?currentid=2 I was just commenting on the name of the city you live in ![]() Unless you have lots of open space, and high ceilings a T-Rex is too big to fly in the house. A barn, warehouse, gymnasium, etc. would be fine.

| Re: Hi (anther newbe) The DX radio should be ok for connecting up to a pc so you can run a sim.....the other type of radios I am not sure of....they are mainly quite cheap and not capable of supporting a serious rc model...but if one of these helis comes with a radio and a sim as well then you will learn enough to get by. I used two very basic sims before attempting the real thing....sure glad I put the time in ![]() Then hardest thing is setting up a model so it flys well....but thats part of the fun....tinkering around and learning all the time. | Re: Hi (anther newbe) Thanks again. I guess the town (city) name is a bit odd, been here to long to notice. The name comes from when the road was a wagon trail to the gold rush to Barkerville ( the caiboo trail). The rest point were named in mile from the start of the Cariboo Trail Lilloote . ie 50 mile house,70 mile house etc. My computer will need a little upgrading to run a sim.
