Just bought mx400 Alright so basically the past couple of day's I have been remembering how much i was in love with r/c heli's a couple years ago, lately all i fly are planes. so i did a bunch of research tonight, and i just bought a new ark mx400. I bought it as a kit so I will have to build it(I want to) It comes with everything I need except a radio, I have a 6ch from my planes but i'm not sure that will work...it won't correct? What would be a good radio to get..I don't have much $$ anymore haha. (I hate impulse buys with ebay when you have money in your paypal acct!) I am very excited...thanks santa clauss! If you don't understand my impulse buy just look at how long i've been a member on here. ![]()

Re: Just bought mx400 Right: You need a radio that can cope with helis....double check your radio you have it might be ok....check your instructions or failing that just tell us what radio it is...others here might have the same. Crucial differences: the throttle stick is the colelctive pitch stick too...the same stick shares two channels....a normal airplane radio wont do There are 'idle up' options on a radio for helis...ie different throttle and/or pitch settings too I have a Futaba FF7 or CAP/CHP 7 which handles both airplanes and helis....it has 10 'memorys' so that I can use it on 10 different helis/planes if need be. The radio needs to be a computer type for real flexibility, prices are good for a typical set....in fact these type of radios are becoming the normal item. The ark 400 looks the same as the TRex series of helis....very nice and it should be ok for spare parts supply. Rob

Re: Just bought mx400 After reading alot tonight I am thinking an aluminum center hub and aluminum tail pitch plate (and grips?). would be good investments before even attempting to fly.

Re: Just bought mx400 The stock stuff should be good to go.....you want airtime...the extras are ok if you want the bling....but stock items with the kit will be ok....theres little if any difference in performance......its better to get flying and master the basics....personally I would spend the cash on standard plastic items for the heli....alloy stuff sure looks nice but its expensive in comparison....but thats up to you ![]() Rob

Re: Just bought mx400 The reason I am debating spending more money is because I have read that on a regular landing the head with explode and take longer to repair and more money. Also the tail blade grips i have heard can break with even a soft landing...i'm figuring since i'm new i won't have the softest of landings!
