| Re: OK...Is the hawk 252 any good? Hi miniotu Don't waste your money on that junk. That thing is a simple 2 channel toy it go's up and down and rotates left and right if you can even get it off the ground. I'm afraid you'll regret purchasing it 5 minuets after getting it home. |

| Re: OK...Is the hawk 252 any good? I'm really sorry to say that your not going to find anyone that has any thing good to say any Heli in this price range. Unfortunately if you are really interested about getting in to this hobby you will have to spend at least twice that just to get into a low end starter that you can actually fly around with any measure of control rather than just up and down and most experienced pilots will warn you to stay away from those as well. That's the down side of this hobby it can be expensive if you want something that you will enjoy and not outgrow in the first week you'll need to spend some money.. There is no such thing as a cheep but good RC Helicopter. |

| Re: OK...Is the hawk 252 any good? Hey Minimotu, concur with Danimal. A beginner heli that isn't complete junk will run in the $ 200 range - at least. The 2 channel machines are basically toys. When it's stated that you can control up/down and right/left, that's exactly what is meant. What about forward/back? I wouldn't start with anything with less than 6 channels. Check out the Blade CX or Century V4, among others. They are servicable, inexpensive fixed pitch machines that are decent to learn on for INDOOR flight - meaning they're a handfull in wind of any kind - even self generated. Blade CP seems to be a pretty good design for entry level collective pitch in the $ 250 range. There are people on the forum who would argue that you should start with collective pitch right off and avoid fixed pitch alltogether. I can't speak to that personally, so if anyone wants to jump in here and state the pro's and con's please do so. In any case, from what I've read (check the forum for other posts because I have no personal experience with it), I'd avoid Walkera as the electronics tend to be short-lived. That being said, I'm getting a picco z myself, but only because it's small enough that I can fly it in my apartment because my Century V4 is too big, believe it or not, and I don't wanna kill the cat - just mess with her a bit ![]()
