Blade CX. how is it?

This is my first post here.
I was wondering if the blade cx is good for a begginer.
Or is there a better heli for begginers?

Re: Blade CX. how is it?

seems to have a good report from most owners...I have a similar heli and it works just fine....great fun.

Make sure you can get spare parts for it....you will crunch it at some stage

Re: Blade CX. how is it?

Hiya Mini,
i am a newb also, lol. I got the BCX, and it is great! Everyone has their own personal feelings and ideas about things, I sorta, kinda wish I had done things a little different but that is neither here nor there...where? ...lol, *cough*
Anyway, maybe being a newb is a good thing for another beginner, I have learned 2 important things at least, PATIENCE and parts availability! you better have a TON of patience, cuz things ain't gonna go like you hope they will, probably,..agg, that isn't what you wanted to know is it?
If your LHS (local hobby shop) sells the BCX then they should have all the parts for it, you are gonna need that, big time. I myself have had to get inumerable blades, upper and lower, and a few landing skids, and a new flybar hub, but..they are cheap in price, and no down time to speak of, do not have to wait days and days for parts to come from who knows where. You are gonna crash, nature of the beast so to speak, so might as well accept it and prepare for it, it is a blessing to have the parts right there so you can keep on learning. There are no inherent problems with the BCX, it is easy to fly, of course you are going to have to trim it up, tweak it here and there so it will stay where you want it, that just comes with the practice, I have had to learn on my own, my LHS has a good supply but not alot of knowledge of helis, they mainly go for the cars(actually the guys on this forum have helped alot! Be glad you found this Forum, no need to go to any others). As far as I am concerned the BCX is great, wish I could afford to buy all the "trainer" type helis and give you a comparison test.
My BCX can take a beating, is stable in flight (with a bit of tinkering here and there), replacement parts are cheap and available, very "user friendly"!! Good instruction manual also.
I have run mine into a tree, bushes, kitchen cabinets and a stainless steel fridge, not to mention the ground , she still wants to fly, just doctor her up with some new blades usually.
Hope my rambling on helps.
Be good and have fun,
Blue

Re: Blade CX. how is it?

You can actually get an updated flybar hub....for the twister bell 47 anyway...its cnc built from alloy and is nice and strong.....I used to get sooooo annoyed at breaking mine.....the lower hub I am going to replace if I can get a small lathe to build one up....will make it out of brass tubing and rod.

The most difficult thing is that if you do fly into a wall and break things...then the little posts that stick out of the hubs usually snap off.....the post can be dug out of the blades and lovingly glued in place...but the next accident will see them snapped off again.

If you could combine the basic 2 chann dragonfly with the cx type layout (counter rotating blades) you would have the ultimate indoor heli....my friend has a dragonfly and I have it seen it crash soooo hard that it shoud break...but it comes back in one peice....flying wise its a peice of crap...but toughness it wins....

Re: Blade CX. how is it?

if you want to experiment and get the updated hub try

www.revolutionmodels.co.uk

look in ´twister spares´the hub is anodised blue in colour....and I suspect it will fit.....after all these helis are mass produced in the far east...so they can be identical mechanical wise.

Re: Blade CX. how is it?

Or just go to LHS, and just buy the inner shaft with aluminum head.

Re: Blade CX. how is it?

Blade cx are nice for beginners I tryed to started with something like the cp and ended up not being able to really fly it and it was broke a bit. So I stopped trying then got a blade cx and broke alot of blades but now the blade cx is way to easy for me. I know have a cp pro and a hawk pro and of course my cx at that other heli I had before.
