Smile Blade CX repair instructions?

hey,
Just got a Blade CX heli...crashed it about 2 hours after taking it out of the box =( Well now I need to replace the "Upper Rotor Head & Inner Shaft". I can't find intructions anywhere on how to take it apart. Anyone know how? Any instructions?

The manual has an "exploded view" but nothing on how to replace the shaft. I already have the replacement part.

If its the same as my Twister Bell 47...which I think it is....(different body) then you have to undo the screws that hold the respective shafts to the cogs that are driven by the motors....look carefully and you will see screws that are located behind the cogs...undo carefully and the shafts will come apart...slide them back together but make sure the screws are located to the steps on the shafts...screw in a little and gently rotate untill you are sure the screw is on the ´flat´ spot of the shaft....this is how my Bell 47 is set up and I suspect your CX is the same.

Re: Blade CX repair instructions?

first off...thanks!

where/what are the "cogs"? I am not even sure how to take the body (outer chasis) apart.

I am pretty good at taking things apart but with this Blade CX, it's just not intuitive

seems like a very helpful site/forum...thanks again

The cogs are driven by the motors...and are fastened to the inner and outer shafts respectively...they are located under the chassis of the heli...once the outer shell has been removed...I do not know the shell of the CX but it will come apart.

Yes this site is good....its freindly and genuine....which is more than other sites can attain.

Remove the front canopy, and then just pull out both of those pins that were holding it on. Now pull the skids straight out, they should come out fairly easily. Now the back half should slide straight off. When you put the skids back on look at them carefully, on one there is an "R" and on the other a "L". The letters should face the Inside of the helicopter.

Re: Blade CX repair instructions?

Hiya kid,
Did you figure out how to get the main shaft out? IF you didn't maybe I can help too, lol, I have the BCX also and replaced the upper Rotor head and shaft with an aluminum one cuz I had broke the original plastic one a few times, ...lol,
Ok, here goes, You can take off the Front Body by pulling the body mount rods out, 2 of them.
Next step, turn the heli upside down, you might want to take off the landing skids, makes it a bit easier, with the heli upside down you will see a large black "cog", (a circle with teeth on it), it is held on by a "retaining collar" the silver ring that you should see right next to the "cog", the collar is held on to the "inner shaft" with a "set screw", 2 of them to be exact, at least on mine anyway. Get a small phillips screwdriver, and carefully loosen the set screw/s, it will help to turn the blades so that the screws point to the side instead of front and back, makes it easier to reach the screws. when you have taken the collar off you will find that there are 2 "cogs", one for the left motor and 1 for the right, see how they run with the 2 little brass cogs from the motors?? just take a good long look at the underside and study it some before you take the collar off, you will understand.
After you have taken the collar off and the 2 cogs grab the flybar hub and pull the shaft out, replace with new one, notice the flat sides on the bottom of the shaft!!!! those flat sides are where the "set screws" MUST go to tighten the collar, otherwise it will fall off.
Just insert inner shaft and put on the 2 cogs, making sure the teeth line up with the pinion gears, (the 2 little brass cogs I mentioned earlier), then put the collar back on MAKING SURE YOU LINE UP the set screws to the FLAT sides of the shaft.
Tighten the set screws.
