Got mine last week :)

Hey there fellas. I just got a blade cx last week and am hovering stable and in place tail in and tail out, moving forward/backward/sideways and in a circle. I must have around 15 flights under my belt already. I think I am addicted. MMMM CRACK!

Anyway. I am having trouble keeping this heli from "yawing" on its own. I have come to understand that this is actually a heat problem with the 4-in-1. There are solutions out there that involve modifying the heli to provide better cooling. Well I have done what I can short of drilling the case of the 4-in-1(Which I plan on doing tonight). I was wondering, is there a replacement/equivalant to this 4-in-1 that would be a better solution? Something that will provide more stability without having to modify its case? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, there is a great deal of "Toilet Bowl" motion going on with my heli which at this moment I will attribute to my blades being as beat up as they can while still providing lift. But I have reason to believe that while beating these blades up I have also warped the plastic that the blades attach to(What are those called? Heads?). I have found a site that provides aluminum replacements for these parts. Along with these parts comes the use of different blades. Will the aluminum parts improve stable flight? Will it reduce vibration? Are these easily available blades? Or will I have to order these blades from the same place when I need to replace them? From what I can tell they look to be a standard blade. But then again I am new. So I must ask.

link to the upgrades.

Thank you in advance for your help. Hopefully I will soon be ready to fly my blade cp that I got the other day. After I repair the damage I did to the thing in the first flight I realised that tail boom likes to rotate directing the tail rotor at various angles and sometimes perpendicular to where it needs to be facing... I will figure that out in time though...

Re: Got mine last week :)

IF your any hoby store around you supports the BCX just buy E-Flites aluminum head upgrade. It takes normal Blade CX Blades and is very durable. It cost me $21.00 but was well worth it since I broke the original plastic head on my second flight, and now have around 50+ flights with the shaft only slightly bent. Here is a link to horizon Hobbies online store's aluminum head upgrade http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=EFLH1240

Re: Got mine last week :)

Are the Alluminum upgrades worth it for a beginner?

I heard they are great later on but at first but not be good because something will break when you crash, if its not something it will be something else and if you make certain things stronger you end up weakening something else.

Thanks

Luma

Re: Got mine last week :)

I would say buy at least the Aluminum head upgrade with the inner shaft. Becuase more likely than not the plastic head will break soon. Im glad I did, one good 10 ft fall shattered the plastic head, and some of the blades. My aluminum survived a 15-20foot fall onto concrete without so much as a scratch. Yes, there were quite a few things that got un-aligned, but it didnt take long to fix them. This of course is if you are talking about a BCX. For other helicopters I'm not sure, but it would make sense to wait for aluminum since strengthening some parts will weaken others in a crash.

Thanks man, I actually do have the aluminum head now. I broke that a couple flights ago. In fact, I broke my landing gear before i broke my blades. I made a pair out of carbon rod and they are rock solid. I was just curious if the upgrades in that link are worth it.
