| New to rc helicopters My name is Harold Way, I am from Colorado Springs, and this is my first with rc helis. I am getting the Dragonfly 4 with 6 channel transmitter. I had the chance to fly a rc heli before and it was fun. I chose this heli; because it was within my budjet. I have read a lot of pro's and con's about it, but for the money, and cost of parts I chose the Dragonfly 4. I hope someone here can give me some tips about flying. |

| Re: New to rc helicopters Hey, best tip I can give you is get a flight sim. Buncha different ones out there, but they'll save you at least what they cost in parts if you stay with the hobby and end up with multiple helis like most of us Free on line is FMS, but you may need some adapters (hardware and software) to get it to run on your computer. Not a bad sim, and when you consider the price it can't be beat. Also, highly recommend "training gear" for the heli. Will save you from costly boom strikes and off kilter landings which could trash your blades. If the heli doesn't come with it, should be available from lhs for about 7 bucks. Stay close to the ground initially so it's not so far to fall if you panic - unlike airplanes, helis don't wanna fly so they require constant small inputs to keep them in place - you can't really ever let go of the controls. There's also an on line tutorial something along the lines of rad's school of flying (I can't remember exactly - anyone can help me out?) but it's a good tutorial. Happy flying ![]() Emil

| Re: New to rc helicopters The link to Radd's School of Rotary Flight is http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html It was made for I think the Eco-8 but applies to about any helicopter and should definetly help with learning to fly. For training gear if you dont want to buy any, go to your local hardware store and buy 1/8 inch dowel rod. You only need a couple feet of it (I'm guessing a Draganfly 4 isnt very big) Cut the rod in half so that it sticks out a little bit from your helicopter, and attach it to the skids making an X if you look from the top. By doing this it only costs like 50 cents to a dollar for training gear.
