Question about Spektrum DX6 Tranmitter

I read this radio has a 2.4Ghz signal instead of FM or PCM signal. It doesn't require any crystals for the TX or the RX.

Now my question, is this signal more reliable, meaning less chance of getting interference? Also, what is the range this radio's can work up to? FM is 1 mile, right?

thanks
