Need advice on equipment for 1st Heli

Hi:

I have decided to buy a T-REX 450XL CDE version, that will come with the 25A ESC and the Brushless 3550KV motor.

For the Gyro I will get the GY401

Now, I need advice on a budget radio to use this with. Also if the radio doesn't have a receiver, what 6ch receiver and servos can I get?

I was looking at some servos from Fleabay, That are micro and 9g weight, will that be OK? How about the Tower Pro SG90 micro servo (9g)? What criteria should I consider for the servo? I need total of 4, right?

Thank You for your help.

Re: Need advice on equipment for 1st Heli

ok, I HAVE narrowed down the choice to a Futaba 7CHP radio, I understand is a 7 channel, I see many guys using a 6ch receiver only, will that work?

By the way what are the 7 channels for?

Regarding the receiver, do I need a separate battery for it? I am considering the Hitec Electron 6. Now that comes with

- or + shift, which one do I need?

If someone could help me out, Thank You.

On a 7 channel RX it is usually laded out like this
#1 aileron
#2 elevator
#3 throttle
#4 rudder
#5 spare/gyro
#6 pitch
#7 spare/ governor
You wont need a separate battery to run your RX every thing is powered from just the one mane battery. If you are going with a brushless setup your battery will plug into the ESC and that will plug into #3 on your RX.
The -or+ shift is for different makes of TX the - is Hitec or Futaba and the + is for JR or Airtronics Radios

So basically on a 7 channel radio I will be using 6 channels only, right? That means I will be fine with a Hitec 6 channel receiver then?

This is confusing, but I really appreciate your help.

The Futaba 7CHP should be fine....I have one and its the best radio I have.....7 channels is fine....gives you that extra bit of flexibility if you prgress onto other models....where you might want that extra channel.

Buying a good radio is the most important thing in model flying....the receiver will usually survive a crash...so you wont waste money. I dont know the Hitec 6 but its probably a good radio....as long as it supports basic heli functions then you are on to a winner.

Computer radios are becoming the norm....the flexibility they offer is great....just make sure to read the manual....use it for bedtime reading or whatever....but read it and get to know that radio system....pay careful attention to the gyro functions, especially on your first flight.
