Newb question: Deciding between two helis

I have decided to try an electric heli. I do have experience in Radio controlled MT's both gas and electric. I had a Tmaxx that I used to bash with and then went to an emaxx converted it to a crawler by making it solid axle and such.

I'm at college now and we have a park across the street from my apartment. I have been interested in RC heli's for awhile but have finally decided to get one. I am looking to get one that I can learn on but can work with me until I can step up to an electric or gas 3D heli. I want to get a starter that is good enough to learn alot of the maneuvers on, last me awhile, and get me very prepped for a better heli. I understand that most RTF models have poor electronics, gotta love how they try to have us newbs learn to fly with crappy electronics. I am going to use it stock for as long as I can, which will be until I have a MAJOR crash or need some more performance out of it. I am looking at the Walkera #4 and Walkera #36. Which would be the best to start out with and then to use until I feel I am ready to step up to the more expensive and higher quality helis.

Do each of these have what I am looking for? I know Walkera is like a certain make of car...many people like it, many people don't. I know the #36 is the better of the 2. Should I opt for the #36? Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Tyler

Re: Newb question: Deciding between two helis

Hi tslabaugh
It is just my opinion but I think the #4 is the better choice for a starter Heli it has less moving parts to brake while learning the basics and they can take a lot more abuse than the 36 can.
Like you mentioned the electronics can be a week point with these RTF kits its kind of hit and miss thing some have trouble out of the box and some will fly for months without a glitch. I would suggest a good flight sim first if you are planing on moving up to a more expensive heli in the future believe me it will pay for it self in a short time with all the money you save on replacement parts.
