| Hi, just a note to let you all know that there will be another person to drive you all crazy with stupid but necessary questions about flight that is in a rc helicopter. I just purchased a new computer( which isnt here yet ) with all the upgrades needed for running simulators and am now checking out flight simulators and txs. This site is awesome with all the info you have I think its great you all are willing to share your experiences good and bad with us begginers. Thanks again. rtrvler |

| Re: heli pilot wanna be Hi Rtrvler Welcome to the forums. ![]() Starting with a sim is possibly the best way to learn and a lot of sim time prepares you well to fly the real thing. Its not the exactly the same though as the real thing is much more intimidating, that plus the fact that you know if you crash, you cant just press a reset button. Good sims to get are Realflight G3 (comes with a dummy transmitter I think) and Reflex XTR (comes with an interface lead for a real transmitter). My preference is for Reflex but Im told Realflight is good too. Take care... Azzy

| Re: heli pilot wanna be Welcome to the hobby!! the more the merrier!!! As Aztek said....a decent simulator is a good investment......it will save time and money in the long run. G3 is good....very good....I have a freind (my Boss actually) who is wanting to start this hobby...He has got G3 and I have used it...the photo realism of the background is awsome....and the models behave like real life. I used FMS which is free off the net but still needs a cable and transmitter...I now use Truflite 3D which is nothing fancy (its quite an old sim) but it does the job in that typical heli functions/switches can be used off my own transmitter. Try hunting around Amazon for RC heli books.....its a good idea to read up on the subject....and if you can try to find a club....any good club will offer training too which is not a bad idea. If you want to do it alone then you can...I did but had no choice (population= small with no RC heli pilots ) I can fly ok now and owe this to FMS, reading a book and getting help through a RC heli website www.Rotory.com . Advice should be free, we were all beginners once...and are still learning things...if we are honest.Rob |
