Cool Getting Started

I just bought a Falcon 3d electric helicopter from www.art-tech.cn. Does anyone here have any experience with this heli? The book that came with it doesn't tell what the control switches and knobs do. One knob says PIT, the other knob says PLT. There is also a switch for normal and 3d flight which I assume is a rpm hold. The other switch says channel 5. In the book it says the channel 5 switch is a backup channel. If someone could tell me what these knobs and switches do I would appreciate it. Also when I turn the transmitter on and hook the battery up to the heli the gyro blinks red, then goes to a solid red on the delicacy adjustment on the gyro. I can't get the heli to respond to the transmitter. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I'm new to helis.

Cool Re: Getting Started

Try lowering the throttle and throttle trim to lowest position before turning on TX and plugging in heli. The knobs have to do with pitch settings-look at Walkera 36 posts for info. The 3D switch is for idle up and inverted flight.

Re: Getting Started

For a beginner, set the PIT at 10:00 Oclock and the PLT at 1:00 Oclock
Don't hit the Idle Up switch until ya know your heli pretty well.
I think the Ch5 switch will toggle you between HH and rate gyro the way it's set up at the factory.
I just ordered one of these and should be getting it this week.
I'd read Radd's School of Rotary Flight and get used to it with "Battery" Lessons ... That's my plan ... wish ya lots of luck.

Re: Getting Started

Please help!. I can't wait to get started with this hobby but am undecided at what to buy. I don't have alot to spend, and I want something that can hold up a camera because those are just too neat. I don't want a super begginer heli, I want something that will be more medioker as far as balance between beginner and intermediate. I hear alot of good about honeybee cp2 , blade cp, and raptors. Also, I would like to get something that can do some 3D flying and not be overly sensitive or not very sensitive to the controls. For example, I've been using FMS and if the FMS models are close to the real thing then some models are extremely sensitive and can go all over the place like the Picolo or others will barely move like the dragonfly models...If anyon can, please let me know a few good ones, Thanks!

Cool Re: Getting Started

FMS is not very realistic-if you try a Dragonfly you will see that it can be quite sensitive to controls. You can make a heli less sensitive by moving linkage to inner holes on servo horns or using a good radio with exponential trims.A mini heli [not micro] would be better for hauling a camera and be more stable.A Trex or small Raptor are 2 examples-it would be best to learn flying first before mounting cameras or any other devices to the heli. Most of the wireless cams for helis are junk and give poor resolution-they are sold as a gimmick to help sell cheap helicopters.
