Talking Radio Suggestion

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here and to the hobby. I've never RC'd but use to fly planes many years ago with the handle and strings. I've wanted to do RC Heli's for as long as I can remember. I recently purchased Realflight G3 and I'm loving it. I'm to the point where I want to get my radio. I would like to learn the radio and use it with my sim. What do you recommend for my radio? Let me know if you need more info from me.

Thanks!!

Re: Radio Suggestion

Hi there,

Well the radio you choose depends very much on your budget, if you are looking at lowish budget then the Futaba FF7 (T7CP or T7CHP) is a good choice for about $200 ish (or less) if money is no object, then the JR PCM 9X II (V2) would be whats in my basket but its around $450.00 for the tx alone. If you really wanted to get silly, then the Futaba 12 or 14 MZ are the pooches privates but you are looking at about $1500.00-2000.00. The question is.. do you really want a tx that can play .wav files and has windows on it lol. The important thing to make sure is that its a heli capable radio, I.E. one that has pitch / throttle mixing. Airplane sets can fly helis, but they are difficult to set up properly.

Take Care... Azzy

Re: What Kind of Radio????

Azzy Thanks for the reply. Boy I truly thought I would get more suggestions. I was hoping for you guys to tell me about the radios you bought and what you liked and disliked. What would you have done different. I'm off to the store tomorrow to get a radio. If anyone has any last minute suggestions feel free. My budget is up to probably $600.00 or so. I'm leaning towards Futaba.

Thanks!!

Re: What Kind of Radio????

With $600 to spend, if you can get it, look seriously at the JR PCM 9X II it seriously is a nice radio and its the one Id get now. Dont get me wrong my FF7 is a great tx but the JR is miles better than it. (full graphical display of the curves ect)

Take care Azzy
