Question Vibrations when throtteling up.

Hi
I started my old heli this weekend just to see if the motor would run. It is an old webra .40 and it ran like a charm. I tried to throttel upp without the rotorblades on and the heli almost emidietly started to shake/vibrate. What can be wrong? Is this usual with low rotor rmps and no rotors mounted or can it be that the rotorshaft is bent or what???
Should i do something eith the paddles or something else?

Hope someone can help me

Best regards / Rookie

hi k

first you should never NEVER start a heli with no rotor blades on
your engine needs the load from does blades ,vibration could be engine over reving this could seriously damage the engine .

hope your engine is o.k

starting th engine this weekend.

OK
Now I now : )
Gladly I didn?t went over 1/3 of the throttel so hopefully it is ok.
Im going to carefully balance the rotors and try again.

Do you think that the fact that I didn?t had any rotorblades on could be the reasond for the vibrations and that it will go away when hoverthrottel level is reached?

Thanks for the help / Anders

Rookie help

The heli is an old heli that has been in my clubs ownership for a long time and never been flown of any member of my club. It has collective pitch and I have upgraded it with a seperat throttel servo and a gyro.
It has wood blades.

i hope you will have fun with this heli
and the the wooden blades need a little more balancing but as soon as you do this it should be o.k
then check the two fly bar paddles make sure they are parallel and at 0 deg
then just adjust traking on blades and youre all set

Head loaders

As you can see from the advice that Steff has just given it is never a good thing to run your engine up without blades attached.
There is a solution to this for people that want to run there engine in in the heli or simply check the engine condition without blades attached. They are called head loaders, these fit to your rotor head as blades do and are ali bars with things that remind me of airated golf balls attached to the ends.
These are ideal for this type of use.
They are designed to provide enough resistance to the engine and are very popular for running in,

Regards to all,
Daz.
