Building problem (snap ring)

I've jsut got my new Raptor and i've started to build. I've got over half of it done now, but i'm having a problem with building the main gear assembly.

There's a tube that the gear wheels sit on that has two channels in it for two snap rings. I can't get the things on. Has anyone got any special tricks?

Thanks

Russ

hey russ

this one is simple you need long needle plyers that will fif in the holes of those clips and preferbly the ones that have the tips of these bent upwards it makes it easier.

the trick here is not to pry them open so that put it on side ways,
you need to go at it from top and bottom sit the clip on top and then pry it open witn your plyers just enough so you can slide down to the slot, same goes for the other one.

good luck

i'll try that this evening. I don't think my needle pliers will be small enough to fit in those holes though, i might need some other similar tool, i'm sure i'll find something.

Had another building session last night, and now i've got about 3 sections left to do.

I'm hoping to get it built and setup for the weekend.

cool

i'm sure you wont do this but just in case
2 of my friend turned the tail boom the wrong way when they instaled it the result was a heli with a tail rotor that couldnt be stabalized, spinning in the wrong direction.
to make sure you dont make this mistake just look at your plans and possision your heli in the exact same way as your looking at it on the plans, clock wise; when you set the belt in, you will turn the boom from left to right.

have fun

do you mean like putting the tail rotor on the wrong side of the boom?

no it'S when you instal the belt ,inside the tail boom the belt is twisted ,when you instal the belt drive on the gear the tail blades will be facing up then you have to turn the boom so the blades are on the side where they should be so the belt inside looks like a figure 8,just like taking a rubber band with your 2 hands steching it then give it a quarter turn in clock wise dirrection.

the belt on the gear runs side ways where as on the tail it runs top to botom.

i see what you mean, it was mentioned on www.raptortechnique.com. I hadn't realised why it was so critical. I guess the rotors spinning the wrong way could cause some trouble.

I'm getting far too excited now, hoping for a decent bit of weather over the w/e
