| Just saying hi Just saying hi. After wanting to fly helicopters for as long as I can remember, I finally bought a HoneyBee, simply because the price was right (couldn't believe I could get a RTF heli and radio for under £100). Initial attempts at hovering (read "carpet skating") in the lounge showed me how much I need to practice on a SIM, so I now have G3 installed on my computer too. For the time being the real heli is collecting a little dust as I try to get to grips with the initial tasks of a stable take-off and hover (and heaven help me if it's pointing at me!!). Still, the great thing about G3 is that when "school's out" I can get reckless and hoon about the place without worrying about the crashes. Gotta love that red reset button. Anyway, look forward to chatting with you all later. |

| Re: Just saying hi without doubt, the simulators available do cut down on the learning curve. I used a couple of cheap budget sims in order to learn fixed wing flight....sure helped. The heli models fascinated me....and after much practice I had enough cash to get the real thing.....5 mins of hovering and finding it easy....I was off around the field doing gentle circuits....a year later I have over 50 hours flight time (with tons more sim time) and am flying inverted....albeit keeping nice and high!!!! Sims are a must.....any self respecting person should consider using one if they are half serious about the hobby. Rob |
