Question Rookie

Hi
I have flown alot of rc planes and now got access to an old RC heli that I?m thinking of getting airborn. It has been flying without a gyro before but I?m installing a gyro now. My question is:
Which channels is controlled by the gyro. Is it the tailrotor or what? I have not flown a RC heli before except from on a rc simmulator. I?m also installing a seperat servo for the throttel. Before the throttel and the pitch was controlled by the same servo. Someone have any good advices for a rokie that wants to get the feeling for RC heli?

Many thanks in advance / Anders Molin

You've been flying without a gyro? How did you do that? The tail is almost uncontrollable.

gyro

hi rookie , depending on which gyro you are going to use will determine how many channels you are going to need. If your going to use a conventional gyro where the gain of the gyro is controled from the gyro itself then with your throttle and pitch being seperate you will need five channels of which your gyro will plug in to your rudder channel and your tail servo into the gyro.
If on the other hand you decide to use a gyro of which the gain is controled from the transmitter then you are going to need at least a six channel receiver. Everything will be the same except there will be three leads coming out of the gyro ,servo in,rudder in and gyro gain. The gyro gain lead then usualy goes into channel five otherwise known as the gear channel .
If you have any problems setting up or installing your gyro we can be of more help if you let us know what equiptment you are using hope this helps

The heli has been in my clubs posession for a long time but nobody has had the time to get it flying.
I looked at the gyro and it has lines in, one for the Rx gear channel and one for the Rx rudder channel, and one line out for the rudder servo so I guess that the gyro has gainadjustment from the Tx.

I will check what gear I will use and post it later on.
