New Raptor Questions I'm looking to buy a raptor v2. Some people are telling me to get a 30 as it's cheap and others are saying a 50 as it's more stable. Is learning on a 50 easier than a 30? If i buy a 30 now am i likely to want to move up to a 50 in the future? thanks for any advice anyone can offer

hi again yes to all the questions and moving to a 60 size is more like it. the question here is budget $$$$$. you can buy a 30 size and never want annything bigger, the 30 size will do everything a 60 size will do it depend s on how much you get in the hobby. if money is no object you can get a 60 size with good gyro, radio, servos engine they just cost more to purchase, run and fix but thats what i did and don't regret it one bit do weight all the alternetives befor you jump in, this is the best hobby arround. here in canada a crash kit for a raptor 30 is 125$ where as my excel 60 and my vario 60 cost 250 to 350 to repair steff

just looking at the prices, the 50 doen't seem too much more $$$ than the 30, but the 60s seem way more. I can't find raptor 50 crash kits though, 30 and 60 but not 50, is that because they don't exist or am i not looking hard enough. Also, i've heard of a lot of people buying gyros and then replacing them because they don't have the required resolution / speed. Is the CSM iCG 400 going to be fast / accurate enough for a beginner? will a JR591 servo do the job for the tail servo? Sorry for all the questions Russ

hey no prob for the questions that's what we're here for. your wright about the 6o they are lots more $$$ i haven't flown a 50 yet but heared they were great. as for crash kits you can try rick's rc helicopters i,m sure he has everything and they might be 60 size parts but i"m not sure of this give them a call they're located in texas. donT know about the 400 gyro how much is this$$ i have the gy 401 from futaba you can get these at about 199.00u.s dollards with the digital servo that 's recomended for it. servos, here againe i use futaba or hitech 605 bb.if you go for a 30 raptor then standard servos are o.k to begin with as you get better you might want ball bearing and hight torque for those advanced maneuvers but for a 50 or 60 size i recommend at lease 75 oz of torque on each servo and a good 1600 or 1800 battery my guess is if you can afford the 50 then go for it if you get good fast you'l be happy you did the next question is what radio will you be getting from wath i know is that jr and futaba are of equal quality it's just a preference steff

i'm in the UK. I asked about the CSM iCG 400 cos there's a special offer on them at the place i was going to buy the kit from. i'm looking at a JR X378 PCM as i used to fly gliders and it's got sailplane model settings. Thanks for the help, look forward to being able to help others later. I'm getting pretty good on the sim now, nose in hover and figure 8s cracked. Can't wait to get airborne.

cool your doing great i checked out rick's and turns out the 30v2 and the 50 v2 share the same parts wich explains the 100 $ dollard diff and same cost for maintenence don't know how good the tt 50 is but the heli wont be much bigger then the 30 size but will have more power. the 60 size raptor is 350$ more. so i guess if you wanted something bigger it would have to be a 60. no worries the 30 size flies verry well both the v1 and v2 you can learn on this then upgrade later to a bigger ship steff

hey went back to rick's for the gyro can't find the 400 been replaced with the csm 540 wich sells for 220 $ so my guess isthe 400 should be good is it a heading hold if so you need a good or fast servo on it whath you have to do is look at how much the two pieces will cost you if he sells you the gyro foe 150 and you need a 120$ servo then your better off buying the futaba gyro and digital servo combo fo 220 they will work with jr radios coming back to radios all heli radio will fly a sail plane or airplane. thats why i sold all my other radios and just kept my super 8 that can hold 8 diff models in memory i also have 4 war birds in this radio. steff
