Another new guy to Heli flying is here. I've been into R/C ing, for a while, but limited to the ground type(T-Maxx's). I've always wanted to get into flying(helicopters) and finally got the nerve to do so. With the help of E-Bay(my downfall) I've purchased not one but two used heli's. Not sure of my threory on this, but maybe to get one out of two, or a spare for when I(more than likely) crash one. One is a Hirobo ZXX and the other a ZX. Both have some things missing, but not much. The ZXX has a OS Max .32 in it and the ZX has a Enya .35. Both seem to have good compression. I have the JR XP652 and the XP642 radios with the JR R700 and R600 receivers. The gyros are both the Futaba G154's. I just ordered 6volt nickel battery packs for the receivers. The ZXX has the NES507 servos and the ZX has the NES517's. I got the JR flight pack to get the R700 and it came with the NES537 servo's. I will probably put them in the ZXX. Is the Futaba gyro alright, or should I go with something else. And is there anything else about this setup I should change. I really haven't a clue yet. I do have a Realflight G2 sim on the way and plan on a lot of time with that before attempting the real thing. Unfortunately not a lot of heli piolets I know of in the area for help, so any and all advise will be greatly appreciated. Sorry for being so long winded.

Hi Kato, Welcome aboard. Looks like you have a bit of sorting out to do. You mentioned that you have things missing. What are they? Also, any idea if the heli's you bought have flown? crashed? before? The G154 is a normal mechanical gyro, so if the heli has taken a crash before, the gyro could be affected. You'll know this if you get the heli to a hover and he tail twitches about. As in any 2nd hand heli, you would need to carefully look over the heli and then ensure that all the bolts are secured, no cracks anywhere, especially around the rotor blade holders. Next is to check if the shaft is bend in any way. You can either do this by spinning the blades by hand, and looking for vibration, or by totally removing the shaft and rolling it on a glass surface to watch for wobble. If everything seems right, then you should have no problems setting it up and getting it into the air.

New Guy Neither of the heli's was supposed to have been crashed, and the ZXX was from an experienced flyer, that had just upgraded the rotor parts(swash plate, washout, etc.) with cnc parts. They were mainly missing electronic parts, receivers, batterypacks, etc. as far as I can tell so far the main heli parts are all there. I inclosed some pics for now, don't know if anyone can spot potential probs from them. Thanks again, I'll be back many times for help.

Hi Kato, Looks like it has not flown before.... or is it just very well cleaned up? The heli with the Blue Flybar linkages... those are not original. You might want to pay more attention to this heli. It's either been hop-up or the parts were changed after a crash. But all in all, it looks like a nice pair of shuttles to me.

New Guy Yeah Colin, I've been cleaning, but they came mostly like you see em, just dusty. They have been flown, but not sure how much. The one with upgrades is the ZXX and will be my main heli. Lots to learn before flight, lol. Thanks again
