axe cp blade grips

I have an axe cp and I''m trying to change a main blade grip I broke. My question is, how do you get the screw that holds it on to come out. I've taking the screw out that holds the blade on and took the blade off. I can't get the screw to unscrew and back out-it keeps turning but want come out to where I can take the old grip off. I checked the other side and the screw is the same way. I need some help on this. Am I doing something wrong? I would appreciate anyone's help.

Re: axe cp blade grips

Is it a phillips or hex head type screw? If its a phillips i just seen a FREE replacement package on the manufacturers website.

Re: axe cp blade grips

you need to use 2 hexs one on each side other wise your turning the whole spindle usually only one comes out so you may have to remove both grips.

Re: axe cp blade grips

It might be 1/16'' size too....I have seen this many times..the maker sometimes supplies allen wrenches that are 1.5mm which are worse than useless IMO.

You will need two 1/16'' size allen wrenches, the 1.5mm ones will round off and the key gets the blame...but the truth is that they are that bit too small.

If they are hard to remove then undo the one and remove one grip...the other grip should pull out with the shaft..then its a matter of using pliers to grip the shaft while undoing the allen screw.

Dont over tighten either, but do use some locktite to secure the threads...only a tiny bit though...medium strength is enough.
