Please Help

Hello.
I want to thank you in advance for any help/advice any of you seasoned flyers can offer.
I recently purchased a brand new TREX 600N PRO. I haven’t had the opportunity to fly it yet. A good friend and very experienced flyer told me to change the gyro and servo that came with the bird because it will for sure crash the first time out. He also added that the gyro will not “hold” (?) the bird (excuse me but doesn’t the gyro simply send the signal to the servo and the servo does the work of “holding” the bird?).
That seems a little disturbing to me as I don’t understand why a company would install an inferior component on their product.
The Gyro in question is a Telebee (550 I think), and the servo is a Futaba 3001.
I look forward to some honest answers as I cannot afford a 401 at this time.
Thank you.
Tino.

Re: Please Help

I really dont know about the reliability issue, I would have thought the stock gyro would work just fine.

For a more exact answer, if no one here can help, find www.trextuning.com which is a good site for all things Trex.

Re: Please Help

If this gyro came with the Trex then I am sure it will be fine.
Stop worrying and fly

Re: Please Help

Hey fellas.
All the servos are the same.
I will be getting a 401 with servo but I am a little confused.
A lot of places are offering as many as three different Futaba servos.
a 9254, 9257, 9650 and 3500.
I'm sure there is a difference, what do you reccomend?
Tino.

Re: Please Help

Whichever is the cheapest, I have the 9254 and its solid enough.

Nice gyro the 401, any issues then just ask away.

Re: Please Help

Hi Tino,

Welcome

In my opinion the GY401 is best paired with the 9254 (I have 3 600 class trexes and they all have 401/9254) You can usually buy a 401 and a 9254 as a set which attracts a little discount on the servo. Be aware however that if you have bought a regulator to allow you to use 7.2v Lipo batteries as a reciever pack that it MUST have a 5v output (the align 2 in 1 does not). If you try to run the 9254 on 6 volts it will burn out. This is nothing to panic if you do have an align regulator though since they sell 5 v stepdowns for about $6.00 This fits inline with the servo AFTER the gyro. Feel free to pm me or post back if you want more info on this. Also to answer your original post, the futaba 3001 is a bit slow to use as a tail sero it therefore can't really react quick enough to the gyros instructions and therefore the tail has moved by the time the servo has gotten the tailblades to move thus causing the gyro to call for yet more servo.

Hope this helps... Azzy
