Electric to Nitro... I'm entertaining the idea of getting a Nitro Heli (I'm currently flying all electric) and really don't know exactly where to start. The "Raptor" Heli's seem nice and it would seem that buying a 30v2 means you'll be upgrading to a 50 once you get used to it - so why not just start with a 50!?!? Any advice on good proven setups and good places to buy them from would be appreciated. Thanks... ![]()

Re: Electric to Nitro... Good idea to go 50 right away, if you are a competent flyer then you will find a huge difference with the 50 size nitro birds...certainly more stable for one thing. I like the look of the Raptors, quite tough and very popular it seems. Have you thought about the Trex 600 Nitro? this looks to be one smooth operator...and if parts are sensibly priced this could be a good one to get....I used to fly nitro but it got hard to get...insurance for freight just became expensive...for what is an expensive fuel anyhow...got myself a Predator Gasser...what a beauty she is too. Its 90 size. Think about it, the best indicator is the support the makes get in your area...if the Raptor is popular then it makes sense to get this....whatever you get make sure to find a good store that stocks the parts....because you will need these from time to time. Century is another good make, thats where my Predator is from...the Falcon and Raven models are 50 sized...and the Hawk Pro has come out in 50 size too...check them out. Rob

Re: Electric to Nitro... Thanks for the info hawkman, I'm starting to find that all the "local" shops only support the electric helis... I don't know if that's because of their growing popularity of what?!?! As much as I love the electric birds I still think I’d like to have a nitro. I guess it might just mean figuring out the high failure items (boy, that’s relative) and ordering them in advance with the complete heli package so I’m “prepared” for the various whoooops…The catch is, deciding what to go with for all of the electronics and power plant… ![]()
