Fuel Question

OK, So I've had my Raptor 30 since Christmas. I'm on my 3rd Gallon of 30 % fuel. Having a blast. However..My wife is not having a blast. I've been to the hobby shop 15 times since Christmas. And sent her there twice as well. So the Christmas season has worn off and now we're back to normal living. Now the 30 Bucks for a gallon of Fuel is Rediculous(according to her, for some reason I have no problem with it). So here's my question. I have the OS 32 Engine. It is running great...However, I want to switch to 15 % nitro. Will this hurt anything? Why do people fly 30 %, for performance or maybe its easier on the engine? I am not worried about performance right now as I'm just doing forward flight and really no 3d...
If there is a real need to fly it, I will, I was just curious as I see some other people flying with it at my club.

Re: Fuel Question

I have used 15% on my 50 and 90 and have no problems. Used to use 30% and went down a couple of years ago. Little less performance.

Re: Fuel Question

Jeff0r3,

You should be okay with the 15 percent nitro. besides reducing wallet drainage, It has the correct amount of lube (If you're using Cool Power) to help reduce the friction. The only benefit with the 30 percent is that it will give the engine that extra push that it needs in order to perform those crazy 3D moves with greater precision.

Save your money. You'll need it for parts :>

Re: Fuel Question

I got that fed up with the cost of nitro I got a gasser.....its about £5 per litre for nitro.....where petrol is 50 pence per litre.

The initial cost of the gasser was a bit expensive (Predator) plus the servos were not cheap.....but fuel costs and economy are far better.
By the way....I have run my old nitro heli on all sorts of fuel....rc car fuel...plank fuel and heli fuel....settings need to be tweaked a bit for the different fuels....I just got fed up with such an inconsistent fuel supply.

Re: Fuel Question

Thanks Rob. I am not even going to THINK about purchasing another Helicopter right now. My wife although she is great!(mebbe she'll read that)...Is only so great. She has put her foot down now a couple of times on the things that I kinda need. I see what your saying about the gasser, but at this point, thats not a option

Re: Fuel Question

If/when/possibly its an option then go for it....though in the meantime getting as much flying done as possible is a good idea; with what you already fly.

What I do love about the gasser is that I only need to charge the heli flight pack and radio and fill up and go fly....engine starting is done by pullstart.

I hear what you say about the Woman in your life I bought my heli without mine knowing.....She was a bit suprised......heheheh

But she knows there are far worse obsessions;-) so She is pretty cool about rc helis.

Re: Fuel Question

Yep thats true. There are far worse obsessions. And My wife is cool with the flying heli's too. I've flown planes for some time now and we make a day of it out at the club. But the club I'm in has grown tremendously and we have just gotten back into it..And its alot more fun now with heli's...I may actually try flying the plane this weekend. I've yet to fly it since I've had this raptor...
