New Heli...Predator Hi folks...just about to go larger and get myself a Predator Gasser....any suggestions or hints/tips? I am going for a PCM reciever...after hearing about some of the glitching problems from the ignition system...which seems to affect PPM. Aim is is to use this heli for camera work....not really fussed about inverted flight etc. Rob

Re: New Heli...Predator Follow The thread on the Century Part of RunRyder and you should be good to go If you get stuck drop me a line I'm not to sure about the 26 engine though as it does tend to suffer with more vibrations If your'e just going for a very basic setup with helicam and mount then the 231 will do, if not then look at upgrading the engine and or turning the pred into the Condor version Just for info I've laid 10 lbs of lead across my skids in preperation for stuffing mine into a fuse and really didn't notice that much difference in normal flying Roger

Re: New Heli...Predator 10 lbs of lead!?!! wow...I have heard that these helis can lift quite a load.....the idea is to carry a camcorder....which is a common reason for owning/flying such a machine....I just got fed up with Glo fuel...expensive for what it is and downright awkward to import....it can be imported but the dangerous goods side of things means paying for paperwork....which could be spent on fuel instead. I will stay with the 231 version for now. I own a Century Hawk Sport..which has been a good heli so far...I like Centurys prices...fair priced and sensible. Rob

Re: New Heli...Predator LOL Rob the only heli I fly week in week out regardless of the weather is My Hawk Pro The reason for the Lead was I Plan on Scratch building a Fuse and My estimate for it was around the 10lb Mark so i tried a little experiment changed out the skids for some wooden ones and laid some lead across them untill the wieght reached 10lbs fitted them and flew two tanks in normal Heli was great didn't require any adjustment of the curves or needles Unfortunatly though I've since crashed it Roger

Re: New Heli...Predator Hi there, I since crashed my Hawk...inverted...snapped the head clean off....ouch!!!! I will replace the parts...currently fitting everything to my Sceadu 30 evo....which looks to be well made....sure will miss the Hawk...its been a great heli....the last crash was my own stupid fault....doing too much too soon. I have just put the cash through for the predator....cant wait....its going to be quite a machine....and petrol will be much cheaper and easier to get. How did the crash happen on yours? hopefully its not too bad. Rob

Re: New Heli...Predator It was radio Interferance Damage 601 gyro sensor Battery Pack Canopy Boom and torque tube toast (2nd tank LOL) Main shaft Flybar Spindle blade grips 3 servos Most of the bearings will be changed out regardless Bent frames (now straightened) Got to admit though its a beautiful heli to fly

Re: New Heli...Predator What was the interference? I have heard that PPM can cause problems due to the ignition system....this can cause problems? I have ordered a PCM receiver for mine....and a multi channel freqency checker....figured that with a larger heli it might be wise to first scan the channels before switching on the heli. Question....do you have a remote switch for the engine ignition? like a switch assigned to turning the engine off in case of trouble? If so how did you do this? Rob
