| next heli ????? hi everyone been fying for a while and want to upgrade to a bigger more powerful bird but there are so many choices that it is mind boggling thought that ide see what you guys thought about the subject.im leanning towards the 50 size but am not married to that idea yet. looked at the raven, raptor and caliber 5, all look to be pretty good choices for different reasons. have you guys had or flown anything that really sticks out in your minds to be a great all around bird? the flying that i do is pretty much up to fff, havent tried the 3d stuff yet, but want that to be an option as well. 50 to gasser size what do you think any ideas are appreciatedthanks to all, GASMECH

| i think the raptor 50. 1.its a very very stable bid 2.dosent need crazy fast imputs like eletric dose 3.very good kit 4.can upgrade or downgrade anytime with the easy conversion kits 5.fff and 3d is mucho eiser with it i see and hear. my friend owns a raptor 50 flies like a beast but just keep in mind, u have to be commited to fuel, and buting fuel...it adds up

| Re: next heli ????? I have nothing bad about the Raptor type helis....quite tough but they do have some issues on 'blade flutter' soething to do with the pitch range etc....this 'flutter' can destroy a heli in a split second.....dont let this put you off though because Raptors are very very popular. I personally fly a Hawk Sport made by Century of the good ol US of A....I live in a remote part of the world (Falklands) this heli has been tough....easy to work on....and great fun to fly......I think Century helis give a lot of value for money......I will stick with them. I want to upgrade...and am looking at getting a Falcon 50......the Predator gasser looks to be good value for money....I like very much. Rob |

| Re: next heli ????? hawkman; i currently fly a hawk sport also a blade cp for indoors and no wind. bolth pretty good birds. i would just like something biggger, wish i had gotten the hawk pro but wasnt that great of a deal when i bought mine a couple of years ago. like the 50 size but am also looking at the 60-90 sizes. hey have you ever had any problems with the tail rotor on the hawk- i was flying mine today and after about 2 flights around the field the tail started to violently wag, i got it on the ground and checked the tail and found what i thought to be excessive amounts of play(drive gear stationary tail rotor has 1/4 turn of play)i gassed her up into a hover again and noticed that it stopped but did start doing it as i was going back to the clubhouse. put her down without any breakage and brought her home to check out.any ideas???the gears look good in the tail and on the drive end, the slop seems to be in the drive wire somehow.thanks for the reply -gasmech

| Re: next heli ????? Hmmmm.....dunno about the tail rotor issue on your Hawk.....I had tail wag but that was due to fuel foaming......I repositioned the fuel tank and adjusted the head speed a little.....the canopy was not helping either because it was vibrating a bit. The rest of my tail wag was due to the gyro. a CSM HLG200, the gain was too high...turned it down and its been fine. Point: do check the boom.....the tube assy for the wire tail drive, may have moved forwards or backwards......this will definately cause problems....if it goes backwards it could easily interfere where the wire enters the drive cog......if thetube moves forwards then some of the wire drive is exposed and might vibrate and distort slightly....unlikely though its best to position the tube assy to provide clearence from the rear cog...say 2 inches or so....its not critical....once its positioned then drill a small ****..through the boom and into the plastic spacer/guide thingy then use a small screw....once screwed in the tube assy will never move again. I did this to a nexus 30....there was no tube assy....just a wire drive that went though 3 spacer/guides....it was a bit tedious positioning them...but once drilled and screwed the heli was much better....the guides would otherwise move forwards...and bunch together....not good. Check the where the wire drive goes into the tail/drive/cog....double check those two set screws....and check the screw on the main cog/tail drive. Also, check the tail blade grips....mine had excessive play...the nut holding the bearing within the grips was coming loose!!!!! I stripped the thing and locktited everything....never trust factory assy!!! a little side play is ok....but losing one tail blade will make for interesting flying. Hope this helps Rob |

| Re: tail issue hey everyone: well its been a while but ive been trying to remedy my tail issue. ive completely disassembled, checked cleaned and readjusted the tail, head, and all the gears that drive everything. i did find the tail guild tube loose and moved forward, the lock colar on the main shaft not tight up against the top support (putting the main gear in a bind with the tail rotor drive)-reset all my throttle and pitch curves- retunned the engine- added a header tank and tail mounted servo- put a s9254 servo in place of the s9252 for the gyro and to no avail- THIS THING IS STILL SLAPPING- every now and then it will out of the blue give me 2-4 violent slaps and then usually stop- thats when i land- tried to adjust the gyro, have it set clear down to 35 % to the point that it wanders ever in hh mode- note the slap got more violent after the 9254 was installed, im thinking that was because the servo is almost twice as fast and causing it to move farther on the slap before catching itself. when i moved my tail servo i noticed that i was going to have to reverse it so i flipped the switch on the gyro but nothing happened, i ended up having to reverse it in the radio- also the delay pot does not seem to have a stop on it( i can adjust it clockise or counter clockwise endlessly it doesnt come up against a stop at one end or the other) is that how yours are???or does something seem wrong with mine? ANYBODY OUT THERE HAVE ANY IDEAS AS TO WHAT MIGHT BE THE CULPRET????????????any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated
