Thumbs down the sad sad tale of shirley, the lama v3

ok so my lama and i were good friends, my brother got one exactly like mine, too much so it seems, because he got the same frequency >.<. anyway he was outside flying his, and i had "turned off" mine and had put it up on my desk. I go outside to watch him fly a bit, and then go up to my room to grab something or the other, smelled like burning plastic, or that burning electronics smell, the smell where you know the afterlife of rc angel has just made a visit, i go around my room sniffing, because i have some computers in my room, and get to my helicopter. Noticing the battery is still connected, and that my brother is still flying outside, i hear my little bird give one last dieing servo twitch, i quickly unplugged the battery and tried it out a while afterwards, completely dead, i managed to salvage what i could but i didnt take any of the electronics

Re: the sad sad tale of shirley, the lama v3

Why must the good die young....Very sad.....Thats weird tho. if you had your heli turned off then why would it resonde to the controller input? Btw similar expericence. I was flying a 2 channel peice of crap waiting for my lama v4 to come (very excited) just practising lading and stuf i was huvering in the air when the electronics started smoking. I roughly anded it on the ground pulled out the battery( all taking place in my basement) And saw that the battery wires had melted togother. So being an electronics buff( I build alot of eceltronics stuff and solder and prgram ic chips) and way i take the electronics out and desolder the old wires and checked to make sure nothing else had taken a hit and nothing else was wrong. So i soulder some new higher voltage wires on and resolder them put everythng back together start the heli up it got off the ground and caught on fire so yea.....wasnt too mad because it was only like 30 bucks and it taught me SOME of the basics of landing and etc.

still sorry to here about your bird. are you going to get a new one??
