I confused

How'd I become a "Hovering Member?" Haven't even had birdie off the ground for more than 20 secs . Certainly not in what one could call a controlled flight . I can crash it real good though... When all else fails KILL the throttle and watch it fly like the brick that it is! Thank god for ping pong balls on sticks .
This is a bit different from soaring. Only destroyed one glider in my illustrious carreer. Then again, soared thermals, not cliffs. Wind is not your friend there either. Quite distressing to watch a plane fly backwards and still maintain altitude - for a short time anyway - over the freeway - crap - there's cars there - and it's starting to come down...
Goin' camping this weekend! Hopefully far enough away from what the Brit members call "oiks." Great term!!!!
Intend to finally hover - or rotor in - one way or the other. Here's hoping the wind coöperates .

It's a shame I laundered my wallet last night. It wasn't so much the washer as it was the dryer that melted my credit cards. I have a feeling I'm going to need them come Monday...

You became a hovering member by posting 10 posts on this forem thats how they know how active you are on the forem. Good luck with your hovering it kind of happens one day you are bunny hopping the next you have it in a stable hover it just happens it is a real good day when you hold it for a whole battery.

Re: I confused

Hey M8,

Like mrm says, you'll get it. It really does happen like a light comming on. One day you cant hover, next day you can.

As far as going backwards while maintaining altitude goes... You'll get very used to it in the heli world . In fact backwards while doing aerobatics is normal lol the hard bit is actually remembering which way the thing is going half the time . Melted cards huh. Usually when Ive been to the heli shop, the cards are so hot they burn their way out of my wallet

Hope you had fun this weekend

Take Care... Azzy

Re: I confused

yeah,
I find most learning comes like that - 6 weeks of no apparent progress, despite loads of practise, and suddenly - objective achieved?!?

Unfortunately gail force winds (at least to the heli) prevented removal from the box all weekend.

Back to the parking lot.

Re: I confused

Hi Uneverno, do you have a computer? It would be to your benifit to purchase an R/C Flight Simulator with both heli's and planes. If you have just entered the hobby with the heli, you still need to learn how to fly... especially towards yourself!
I flew R/C airplanes since 78 and tried helicopters 3 times before giving up. I got the Real Flight G2 sim and learned to fly heli in relatively short period of time. Then came the day I challenged the simulator by getting the real deal. I was hovering and doing forward flight just like the sim except there is no space bar to restart.
Simulators will save you a ton of money, time and give you a short learning curve.
I fly the Century Raven and love it.
Jim
