Cool Ohhnoooo... Wait... did I just auto.

Was out for a test fligt, Working out my gyro and tail sytem. I had my little 1800 in (never forget to refresh your charge on a lipo when it has set for a day or 2) just to test the tail. Moving in the ge going up coming down looking for any drift. Also geting use to new bird and the fact I finaly got up the *oops* to get rid of my trainers. Shoulda dont that long ago.
My esc cut for batery save (was not in soft shut off ) I heard the motor cut out whiel I was about 4 or 5 feet up. My reaction was to give collective. Much to my suprize .... Slowly came down under my controll and softly kissed the asfalt. I could not f***n beleave it I had just made my first auto. Hay sims work.
After that I did a look over and slaped the 2200 in and off I went. Tail is good but I want to move tail servo from the frame to boom.
Hay some one wana get me a crowbar to remove my sphinkter from my throat. That had a pucker factor of 10. I can now say Its a bad thi9ng to keep the training gear on for varry long. on the first few flights be ready for the pucker efect
Happy crash.... errr flying.

Yep, an auto on an oops. It was short and seemed to happen in slow time. But it was easy to control kinda like it was floating that last foot down. I will start geting more auto practice on the sim. Geting my dx6 this weekend and will be able to work on autos (when I get them down better on sim) with the heli. I plan on geting one of them lipo warning buzzers to prevent that drop out and not splif a lipo.

Re: Ohhnoooo... Wait... did I just auto.

Good for you....best way to practice autos is to do a nice steady descent....and then land without fuss...and without hesitation.

Hesitating at those last couple of feet will kill headspeed...and you have no height to try to recover that vital factor....headspeed..

on the sim try a nice descent.....and flare while dropping the collective which will give more headpseed.....but be sure to level out and add collective...then carry on and land...without hesitation....I find it handy to keep the colelctive up once you touch down...and feed in some forward cyclic....this should keep the blades from dropping and hitting the tail boom ....which can easily happen if you touch down...with the rear of the skids making contact with the ground.....the 'disc' is tilted back at this stage...as the heli settles the 'disc' is still hanging back and as the boom comes up you can easily get a strike...so keep the pitch positive as you touch down...feed in some forward cyclic....and you should be fine.

Heavier blades give more inertia....typical 30 size heli blades carry very little inertia...smaller helis will carry less....

If you would like an interesting link then say so....I will pass it on to you

Yes I whould like that link. Just got home with my new dx6. Its charging now so I can do setup tomarrow. I have read alot of people whining about the 3 piont curve but I'll take that to get rid of all my glitches. Now I just need a sim cable for the dx.

Re: Ohhnoooo... Wait... did I just auto.

Go to www.rotory.com

you might have to search the site but the articles are there somewhere....one is about autos and the other is about pitch setup etc...both sensible articles and if applied will bring new life to your heli...especially the pitch setup....totally transformed my heli.

I love the #@#$% speckrum dx6!!!, it's the most reliable thing I ever bought.
A friend of mine gave me JR 7 channel to fool with, I couldn't wait to go back to the Specktrum after 3 glithes on the first day. I was in a busy city field, HOWEVER; out in the country the JR ran fine.
