Re: Blade CP Down!

When I got my super landing gear, I didn't use the supplied antenna mount altogether. I mounted it and loosely bunched up the wire and put the rest into the tube. Then I took it out for it's first test flight with the new gear. As soon as I got 5 feet away from me the heli glitched and took a nosedive into the ground So I just wrap the antenna around the base of the landing gear like you would with the stock.

Recently though, I've been having problems with my heli not lifting any higher than a few inches off the ground with either the JCS plasi-blades or the super landing gear. No matter what I do, I even adjusted the pitch of the blades to the point where the motor bogs at half-throttle and still no luck

I figure there is not enough headspeed to produce enough lift to get the heli off the ground with the heavier blades / landing gear. I ordered a new main motor with a 9T pinion and will order the e-power 1300 mah Lipo from Helidirect (along with the charger for it), which I hope will solve that problem. Did anyone else have this problem with the heli not being able to lift itself off the ground more than a few inches with either the landing gear or the plastic blades installed?

I also think it's time for a new tail motor, which I ordered along with the main motor. Somehow, the tail is fine for a while, then suddenly it's as if the motor just looses RPM and can't counter the torque of the main blades. This leads to the tail turning to the right (nose to the left) and the heli crashing I've had the heli since March of 2006, so I assume it's reached the end of it's lifespan, actually more than I would have expected it to last... It's been the 5th time that tail motor has caused a crash because the tail just "dies" and the does a slow, agonizing, ground-wards pirouette (with me applying full stick right)
Out of all those five crashes only thing that happened was a bent main shaft (which has been straightened all those 5 times ) and during the most recent crash, a spur gear with a haircut (a good 1/3 of the teeth are toast) I almost managed to land it all those times, and ended up with some hard landings side first

*sigh* Will be a while 'till it's flying again....

Re: Blade CP Down!

If the thing won't lift off, adding pitch is only going to reduce head speed and burn out your motor faster. if you set pitch to 0 at 0 throttle and it still won't lift off when you go 3/4 throttle then you've got a problem.

I had my Honey Bee CP2 for about 8 flights and the tail motor died--one day it would fly, the next day the tail wouldn't stay put with full right trim and gyro and stick. I got the dual tail motor mount and two new motors, the added weight doesn't make much difference once it's balanced and the tail is WAY more powerful. Plus the motors hardly get warm so they'll last forever.

My head some serious wobble in it though, i SO want to get the cnc...

Re: Blade CP Down!

hi every1,
first post on this tread
i had the same problem too about the BCP not lifting above for more than inches with the stock batt. and set up. later, it wont even lift off!!! i dun think it's the extra weight added when you use the plastic blades and the super landing gears, later on, i changed to lipo and everything was fine.
well... not yet...
today, my mom decided to try out the Blade, i told her that it's really hard to control (bented and rebented main shaft, sym blades, and slops in the rotor head) and if she ever break anything, she'll have to pay for it herself. (i'm only 13) she said yes so i put bak on the training gears and trimmed it to it's best (still not so great), placed on the driveway, tell her all the controls and how to make real small movements with the sticks...
the moment awaits...
she slowly advanced the throttle, (good thing) and the heli start's to lift off and started drifting. she panicked, let go of all the sticks, (without lowering the throttle first!!!) and tried to hand the radio to me!! before she can do that though, the blades hit the tires of the car, and she finally lowered the throttle after some seconds of me telling her to... well, she agreed to pay for carbon fiber sym blades. oh well... guess it's not as bad eh?

if you can trim the heli so that you can fly it with one hand... you get the advantage of drinking (alcoholic beverages of course ) with the other hand
