Thumbs up Re: Blade CP Down!

Thanks . It took me a whole day to go through it and do it right. I have ran 2 batteries in it and have to say it flys better than stock. It wants to jump into the air but I have kept it to some rabbit hops. Have some final tuning to do but I think it is a solid heli now. Time will tell.

Re: Blade CP Down!

Just checked out your blade with the aluminum frame. It looks good, I like it with the heavier skids. You said you had some miner problems attaching the skids to the frame. I have been considering this upgrade and wandered how much of a problem it was making the connection.

I even considered going to the all cnc aluminum rotor assembly, with the frame and skids like you have. It seems like it would be darn near indestructable then. ha ha

Have you noticed any shake with the plastic blades. I just got some and I think I need to balance them. It shakes a little when they are on.

Good luck flying

Red face Re: Blade CP Down!

I don't think that I am going to waste the money on the all alum. head. That is a lot of money that I can put towards my new JR 30.
As for the mods to connect the 2 items together, I ended up turning one of the frame mounts around, then using the heavy gauge wire that the alum. frame came with (I removed the 4 supplied screws) ran the wire through the screw holes into the alum. frame. I then secured the frame to the wire with the supplied 1/8 set screws. Once all assmbled, I used a Dremel cut off blade to cut the wires to the size I wanted. If and when you decide to do this, I can take numerous pictures and post them for you.

The plastic blades rock. They have taken numerous hits and have survived. (Just file out the nicks. )Mine do not shake but I am careful to balance and then set the tracking. If you don't they would probably shake and make the heli harder to fly.

Re: Blade CP Down!

Yea, some day I want to get a Trex. I need to not put to much money into my Blade. I figure when I get to where I can fly my blade at any angle comfortably, tail, nose, or either side toward me, then I would like to move up to a Trex.

The Blade is a great learning heli, I think it will be awhile before I outrgrow it.

Hope you keep doing well

Van

Re: Blade CP Down!

Heh, I've also learned the hard way that killing the throttle isn't the best way to deal with an emergency (short of a possible injury or serious property damage emergency).

Now I fight to take control. I've also learned that when coming straight down fairly fast it's a good idea to slow down (ie apply throttle / up collective) BEFORE touchdown

Been flying a couple of packs a day now with mostly minor incidents... still have a long way to go, but it's getting easier.

Re: Blade CP Down!

Well after the last rebuild of my CP I have come to the conclusion that I need to find a better place to fly. (Instead of the street ) I have tried getting into the local High School gym they said no. I have a few other prospects that I will be checking into.
As for killing the throttle, I too have learned my lesson. I have talked to a few of the local heli guys and they say the same thing.....fight to keep control. I have learned a new trick as well. If you are in some what forward flight and the heli starts to drift left (Like in what at the beginning of my devastating flight ) Jam the cyclic to the right very momentarily and let it return to center. This will stop the heli's drift to the left and give you a moment to regain your senses. I always thought this action would flip the heli over but have been assured by some 90 Nitro pilots that this is not so. Words of wisdom I pass to the group.

Re: Blade CP Down!

I learned my lesson with flying indoors. I'll keep the heli strictly outside. Unlike the ceiling or the light fixtures, I forgot about my ceiling fan. This was when I first got my Blade and it was too cold outside. Yep, you can imagine a Blade CP versus a Hampton Bay ceiling fan. I think that was my worst crash parts wise.
