There was a tip on the original RunRyder thread about Throttle Hold.

In the video you can see the helicopter not only hitting the ground, but then proceeding to beat itself to death as the engine is still running.

The tip was: Use Throttle Hold (i.e., put the engine into idle if all else fails). I'd read somewhere else something like, "You'd be surprised at how little damage is done if the torque of the engine is taken away"
