T-rex pilot

Red face Ok here it is , It's funny when its not yours .

Ok I have been flying every day having a great time nothing going wrong no close calls doing demos for stores flying at all the parks around going through batterys back to back stopping just long enough to change packs.

Then I decide to go to this shop and pick up some parts and one of those Blade CX things to play with in the house to teach some of my friends how to fly helis . Well it was dark out and some people wanted t see my T rex fly .

I had 4 batterys charged I figured why not . Well little did I know that someone was going to be on my channel or keying down on a Ham radio right by where I was going to be flying .

Well I lift off then I got high enough to mess around over,T the parking lot full nice cars including the one I came in. Suddenly I was taken over like some just turned on my channel and pushed up on the stick it wanted to go straight up . i was fighting to keep control the whole time it looks like im doing a freestyle demo the thing is flinging all around wildly .

Well then the think over came my radio contact and took off over a bunch of office bldgs then kept going over some houses . This T rex has a lot of money into it $1700+ so i wasnt about to just let it go . So the next thing you know my night turned in to an episode of COPS I was jumping walls fences hopping spa's I hopped a wall and allmost landed in a guys pool .

I had my remote in my hand moving the power on and off on the motor listening for the buzz after getting all beat down from jummping over every wall going from house to house i was just getting ready to give up as I was walking out of some strangers back yard and I heard a winning sound I saw my heli sitting in the middle of the street motor still running at full power . Broken landing skitts and a couple of cracks in the carbon chassis toasted servo gears . Thats it .

The boom fine the tail section fine . The main shaft fine well the are TI so they never bend . Blades fine . It was so crazy the the mgr from other shops knew about it in a matter of mins we where getting calls about it . No more flying in store parking lots ever again I have pains where i didnt even know I could have them . This story is funny to me only b/c I got my Heli back .

Be carefull in city areas there is to much Rf .

Im lucky I didnt hurt anyone or anything . All the flying practice in the world can't save you when you have interfearance .

BTW don't try hopping walls and yards unless you are aware that you might get shot . Your heli is not worth your life . I must have been crazy now that I think about it . Frustration makes you do crazy thing. I had dogs chassing me its was all out crazyness the whole time I had my remote in my hand . that can either save you or get you shot it can look like a gun or be an excuse to be in the people back yard . It's your call . Cop has nothin on me.

Fly safe, I asked for a frequency checker from santa

I Had 4 Angry People
And Still Almost Got Bit By A Snake Trying To Get The Damn Plane Out Of A Well Shrubbed And Abandoned Wooded Area!!
I Ended Up Using A Stick And Flinging The Snake
Bah...never Again...i Fly In 3 Football Feilds Now...hardly Any Trees

Thumbs up Re: Ok here it is , It's funny when its not yours .

That would be scary. Hams run 1500 watts power output. Talk all over the world. I'm the only one living within 30 miles of my location but i'm worried about these coal trucks running my highways. They use illegal power and even get into my cable tv, they're not hams but cbers. you may of had an unknow run in with one of these types instead of a ham operator. The helo receivers are so small and weight is so important there's just not any shielding from RF there. You suffered from what we call. "Receiver front end overload" you got swamped. If one of your friends had chased you with a v-camera you could of won big bucks on one of those funny video shows. Big Bucks! Glad it worked out ok in the end for you!

Re: Ok here it is , It's funny when its not yours .

Great story! Many moons ago (1964) one of our members ( fixed wing) launghed his new aircraft& radio. Flew fine until it reached 300 ft. it then became free flight.Off she went southeast bound climing out with 15 min. of fuel.Rip its pilot chased after it in his car. We stayed to see it go into the clouds IFR. All was lost, until two days later. A charter fishing boar of the NJ. coast (15 mi.) off shore. Seems they watched it ditch nearby that Sunday retreved it UNSCATHED! Rips name & address inside fus. This little mombo flew almost 70 mi. & not a scratch!
