| forward flight finally Well after a bad crash 2 months ago i have been gun shy at FF. i been on the SIM for about a week and today was the day. I went out saying to myself i'm gonna make it or break it. In the past when I tried FF I just went down stop pivot then come back. Well not today I really let it hang out (this thing is fast, Trex 450SA) i was hitting fast hard banking turns 90deg.(on it's side) after the first time I was stoked. then came 3 more packs. i'm still buzzin'......Now time for rolls and flips ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Re: forward flight finally Something that helped me as I was getting a bit rusty: Make a nice wide hoop out of plastic tubeing and use sticks etc to fasten on to the the skids...I use this idea on the gasser I have...it for nose in flight and hovering and just basic handling...any silly mistakes and the hoop helps keep the heli from tipping over...within reason. Its important to master the basics and it will increase confidence no end. I used to be a nervous wreck with the gasser at first..its a large and scary machine but now its easy...though still has my full attention ![]() Rob |

| Re: forward flight finally Hummm. I've never used any kind of training gear. The only orentation I have a little trouble with is left side in hover. "I"VE HEARED the CLICK" (in my head) now there's no turning back. hahaha.

| Re: forward flight finally Its worth the bother, thats the kind of flying I was thinking about...where the heli is at a 'strange' attitude to you...where you dont feel comfortable. I had this a couple of times, fitting the hoop just helped reassure me that if I made a wrong move near the ground that the heli wouldnt tip on its side. A workmate of mine has just got a Trex SE...Very nice heli...He also got a Futaba T7CP 2.4 ghz radio. I am quite envious ![]() Rob |

| Re: forward flight finally Too true, always have a 'get out plan' if you arent sure of a move. Height is another good one to have. A good tip for a sim is to fly like crazy, upside down...loops and rolls...fast flight upside down and tic toks and so on...just mess about...the less you crash the better. |

| Re: forward flight finally Stoopid me...hit the reply button ![]() Do this crazy sim flying from time to time, the reason I say this is because when I had a servo wheel come off on my gasser it went mental...doing loads of rolls and so on...whike it was inverted I kept pulling the collective down...it was an automatic reaction...once I got close to the ground I just shut the collective right down to reduce the power...I dont bother flying in Idle up with the gasser...but it proved a point about the sim and how handy it is. |
