| Correct sequence?? Once again, revealing my ignorance - I finally got the Deans connectors on my motor battery and my speed controller, but now (being used to single battery RTF heli's) I'm wondering what is the correct power up sequence? I know the controller is first but what follows, the BCE battery being hooked up and turned on followed by the motor battery being plugged in or the motor battery being plugged in followed by the BCE power up?? ![]()

| Re: Correct sequence?? Hey Donut Your power-up sequence should go. #1 TX , #2 BEC , #3 ESC. Before you turn on the TX do a check to make sure all your switches are in their proper positions and the throttle stick is all the way down. A simple little trick I use wile setting up any heli in my radio is to program all the switches so that they are in the up (or forward) position for all normal flight modes. That way no mater witch heli I'm getting ready to fly the switch settings are always in the same position for power-up and normal flight mode. All Up. Next thing is to plug in the BEC and then let the heli sit still for at least 3 seconds so that the gyro has a chance to properly initialize. Most ESC's have a default safety setting that wont allow them to arm unless they see zero throttle input. The only way that can happen is if the Radio is sending a signal to the receiver telling it that the throttle is at -0-. Its like a small chain of events that needs to happen in a particular order to power-up safely. I'm sorry if my answer seems a little bit over complicated. But I think its a really good idea to get yourself into a routine and it helps if you know why you do things in a certain order. I have my own routine that I run through before each and every flight. I do my initial power-up then I'll hit throttle hold and move the heli to the place I will be tacking off from. On the way I'll give the tail a couple jerks to check that the gyro and tail servo are working. After I set the heli down I'll run all the controls to make sure everything is moving smoothly and in the right direction. If everything looks good then I'll step back, take it off throttle holed and spool up. I'll guarantee if you don't have a routine after you accidentally get hit by the main blades or tear up you heli because something wasn't right you'll have one soon afterwards LOL.

| Re: Correct sequence?? Once again, Danimal to the "rescue"... That was the order that I figured was correct but you confirmed it. I couldn’t agree more with having a set routine - I fly full size airplanes and we're certainly taught to implement standard operating procedures from day one. Thanks again...
