Loose blades

Ive just started flying (read as "crashing").

And i have a question about my Dragonfly (i know, i know, i shouldnt start flying with an electric, but i have my reasons). For the first half hour of flight it was great, but over time (an hour in total now) one blade has started to work loose very quickly, even without hitting anything - just spinning the blades is enough. It works its self loose with in just a few secs - annoyingly once ive managed to stabilise the hover .

No amount of tighening will stop it loosening off. Ive tried roughing the mating surfaces of the rotor head and blade, to try and get some grip between the two - nothing, and not even super glue will stop it either.

Any ideas? Im at the state where im thinking of buying a replacement rotor head and blades.

Re: Loose blades

Don't ever glue the blades to the holder. You won't get it in alignment and will cause vibrations.

Generally, the blades are not really screwed in tight. The most important thing you must ensure is that the screw does not loosen. Not the blade. Some blades are made of foam and they compress at the blade holder, so it does look like it has loosen.

So long as the screw and bolt is secured and does not vibrate loose when in operation, the blade will not fly out. Use some locktite on the screw/bolt.

My blades are plastic not foam, and thats just the problem the screws kepts comming loose no matter how tight they were.

The problem has beem solved, by buying a rotorhead stiffener. It uses nylock nuts so it doesnt loosen off.

CA on the nut and bolt end should lock it well enough. Blades should be tight enough in the grips that they don't swing out of line with they are turned on end and really shouldn't move much with a light bump. Tail blades should just be tight enough to hold position and not swing freely. Neither should ever be real tight or glued.
