Any of the 400 and bigger electrics can go higher than 200 feet if your eyesight and courage will allow it. You will need a good brushless motor system and battery but then they will climb clean out of sight if you let them!
My Walkera 36 will climb to over 100 feet in a couple of seconds but it gets rather hard to see at that altitude.

I would be careful, not all wireless cams support more than 30 metres (100 ft in imperial measurement) - Im getting a speceial 200mw powered wireless video that supports a much longer range Also need to be careful the effective range of your receiver too...

For sure, otherwise your little monster will be making a bid for freedom. Most package radios are not that powerful...what sort of mission are you doing? spotting or something?

Yeah... I might need a more powerful helicopter. I totally forgot about adding the weight of the modified antenna and the camera batter. My target is about 175 feet...

Also... I wish helicopters where cheap enough to sacrifice...

Infrared because a low-lux camera can actually see it at night.

Not being funny here, but you can fly? You try hovering a heli about at a good height...its hard to do...very hard. Low level with some reference point and you have a chance....but at height and /or distance and at night? if you acheive that then you are very skilled.

Well:

I am no expert, I do mess about with cameras on the gasser I have though. I have heard that some flyers operating such a machine/camera use an 'autopilot' its a self levelling gadget...so if you make a move and let go the sticks...it keeps the heli level...which takes a lot of the work off you...I dont know about position ie keeping the heli in one spot...but for a good autopilot expect to pay some bucks.

As for the rest of the gear? are you doing wireless links with the camera....or just going up and filming and hoping for the best?
