Re: Its is possible to have a Heli that can flight up to 200 feet?

FMA makes the autopilot that Hawkman is talking about. They aren't that expensive, can be bought for $50 USD more often than not. I haven't mounted mine yet so I can't advise you on it's operation but I've read plenty about how it works great as long as you go through the calibration setup properly.
It is supposed to put the Heli into a steady hover whenever you release the sticks.

I'd be interested to hear your intent for this heli-cam. Night vision, infared, 175ft requirement, etc...Like Hawk mentioned, you must be an extremely experience r/c heli pilot if you're planning to take on this venture. I would think you'd need the largest scale heli you can find if you plan on being able to accomplish such a feat at such a distance.

Don't know too many folks that tinker with the heli cams. There is one guy at my LHS that actually gets paid by a construction company to use his heli to video their projects from time to time. He had a pretty nice setup (which the company paid for). I think he's using a TREX 600N.

Anyway, let us know how this project goes.

Cheers!

Re: Its is possible to have a Heli that can flight up to 200 feet?

I just use a Fujifilm S5600 as it has a video thing on it...and just strap it onto the Predator...and go fly...the footage is not too bad.

For the Trex 450 I have....well...what to use?

One of the flyers here has just got a cam thats small, light and the quality is pretty darn good...I need to borrow it to try it out.

The Autopilot I had on mind was pretty pricey....it was a Robbe something or other...and has a 'position' thing on it...so I take it to mean it will hold its position in the air...not sure really.

Its an interesting part of the RC heli world...but theres not much on the net about it.

I used to belong to RotorWorks and this was good....very good but it lapsed somehow and vanished.

There is a serious need for this type of stuff..I reckon. Not all out expensive stuff but budget stuff that people have built up.

The FMA copilot might work very well a night as it "sees" the thermal horizon. This should work at night because the ground cools at a different rate than the sky does.
Helihobby stocks them if your interested.
